It's a given that college students aren't the healthiest people around. I mean there's even a phrase for it, the "freshman fifteen." And with finals season upon our habits will only get worse. When you're studying for five tests, waking up at 6 a.m., and going to bed at 1 a.m., a healthy salad or a nice protein packed meal aren't your number one concerns. Understandably.

I have a solution for all of you hoping to maintain some semblance of a healthy lifestyle this finals seasons. So without further ado here are my top four ways to stay healthy during finals.

1. Drink all the water!

I'm sure every health and beauty Instagram account has breached until they're blue in the face that water is the solution to losing weight quickly or to getting the clearest skin on the planet. And while those are slight exaggerations, they're not too far from the truth. Water is a vital part of life and it does amazing things for your body. Most importantly it helps fuel vital organs like your liver and kidney, which both filter out toxins from your body. And I'd say that's pretty damn important if you're trying to stay healthy.

2. Walk... like anywhere.

While no one wants to stay crammed in a hard uncomfortable chair in the library until way past midnight, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. So take a minute or two to stretch and walk it out. Firstly, you'll get your muscles moving and get at least some form of exercise for the day (if I'm exerting physical effort, I'm counting it as exercise). And secondly, you'll give your brain a chance to relax and rest, even for just a moment. This will help you feel physically and mentally fresh when you come back and get ready to shove more information into your brain as fast as possible... I mean am I wrong?

3. Be mindful of the snacking

I know no one likes to be told to be careful what they eat. If I want to eat ice cream at one in the morning the night before my final, I sure as heck have the right to do that... right? But sometimes we just have to be careful about what midnight snacks we're having. I love sweets just as much as the next girl but instead of that chocolate bar that I know is just calling my name, I'll have my favorite protein bar that has just 5 grams of sugar and 12 grams of protein (it still tastes amazing -- It's called Power Crunch! 10/10 highly recommend!). And for any of you ice cream lovers out there, I totally recommend Enlighted. It's an amazing high protein, low sugar and calorie ice cream that tastes so amazing! And they have so many flavors! These simple changes will make a huge difference.

4. Lastly, get some sleep!

Your brain and body will thank you, trust me! As much as that test is really stressing you out and you feel like you just need to keep studying, at a certain point your brain will just shut down and you won't be able to work anymore. It's like when you read the same paragraph over and over and still can't remember what you just read. Even if you think you need to keep studying just nap for a good couple of hours and then get back to work. It will make a world of difference for your health and well-being. Your study materials will still be there when you wake up, trust me.

I hope these tips were helpful. Good luck on your finals! One more week until summer, people. We can do this.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
