It is always hard to stay warm in the winter without looking like a marshmallow. Here are a few ways to still be fashionable during the winter.

1. Socks with boots.

2. Skirts with tights.

There are those occasions during the winter when you have to get a little dressed up. Typically, you can just throw on a skirt or dress and call it a day, but in the winter it gets a little trickier. Layering a skirt with tights is a great way to still look dressed up while also staying warm in the winter.

3. Head wraps.

Get rid of those old, ugly exercise headbands that keep your ears warm in the winter and wear something a little bit more stylish. Head wraps can come in a variety of widths, sizes, and colors. Pick the one that matches most of your winter coats, and get ready for a cozy winter.

5. Loose knits.

Everyone has those super thick, warm, knit sweaters that seem perfect for winter. But then you go to try and layer it with a jacket and it bunches up, doesn’t fit, or is just uncomfortable. Try a thinner knit sweater that is equally as warm to avoid these problems while layering your clothes. Pick a longer sweater to wear with leggings for those days you just want to be comfortable in class.

6. Army jackets.

You don’t have to look like a marshmallow in order to stay warm. Those big winter jackets can be nice to wear while you play in the snow, but you may want something more manageable to wear to class. Green army jackets are great to pair with jeans, T-shirts, and boots, and they are equally as warm as some bigger winter coats.

7. Fur hoods.

Whether you knew it or not, there is a little trick to getting a fur hood on your favorite winter jacket, even if it does not come that way. Most winter coats have a zipper where a hood can be put. Find your favorite fur hood either from a store or just another jacket you have and zip it right onto to coat. Now every coat you were can have a warm fur hood attached to it!

8. Flannels.

The classic '90s look is back. Flannels are great for cold winter days when you spend your day walking to and from class. Not to mention the number of different ways you can wear a flannel shirt. You can button them up all the way for a more preppy look, unbutton it at the top if the shirt is more fitted, or leave it unbuttoned with a tee shirt underneath for a super relaxed look.

9. Crop tops.

I know, you are shocked that this made the list. There are a number of ways to pull off a crop top in the middle of the winter without freezing in the snow. You can wear a long sleeved crop top layered with a coat for those days when it isn’t completely freezing outside. You can also wear a crop top with high-waisted jeans to cover a little bit more of your stomach so only about an inch of your skin is actually showing.

10. Plaid scarves.

Scarves are always a winter essential and always will be. It is great to buy a scarf in a color that will go with a jacket you already own. However, multicolored, plaid scarves are so trendy right now and the different colors in it are bound to match any coat you have. The muted tones of these scarves are great for both fall and winter fashion.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

Yes, the math major is doing a math-related post. What are the odds? I'll have to calculate it later. Many people have probably learned about the Fibonacci sequence in their high school math classes. However, I thought I would just refresh everyone's memories and show how math can be beautiful and apply to physical things everywhere around us with stunning examples.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
