I know it's not quite summer yet since summer does not officially begin until June 21, but with college break starting and students starting to wrap up school it certainly feels like it. Whether or not summer is your favorite season, it is certainly a time of many beautiful opportunities and experiences. Below is a list of just a few blessings that summer ushers in.

1. Star Gazing

Not that the stars aren't visible during the winter, but summer weather is more ideal and comfortable for enjoying the majestic night sky and contemplating the depths of the universe!

2. Fireflies

Fireflies are so beautiful, and they are very special because they only light up for a brief period, so enjoy them while they're here!

3. Drive-In Movies

This is such a fun and memorable activity to do with loved ones. It's always fun to bring some blankets and snacks and just hang out.

4. Local Activities

There are so many events that go on during the summer months because everyone wants to be out and about in the nice weather. In my own town, there's a chalk festival, cupcake festival, county fair, and much more. Get out that newspaper, and check the events!

5. Hiking

Enjoying the beauty of creation is always so peaceful and rejuvenating. Nature holds so many wonders, and it is lovely whether you enjoy it in solitude or share in its delight with another person.

6. Time with Friends/Family

Summer often brings with it a lot of free time, which can be spent with friends and family. It is wonderful to truly enjoy the gift of these beautiful people in our lives and to make memories that will last a lifetime.

7. Vacation

Sometimes we get great opportunities to go on adventures, whether it is out of the country, to another state, or maybe even just a day trip with some friends or family. Go and plan something fun!

8. Reading

Now is the time to start reading that list of books you keep adding to but never have time to read!

9. Swimming

The hot weather is the perfect weather for swimming when you need to do something to cool down, plus, it's good exercise.

10. Boating/Fishing

It is so fun to spend some time out on the water, bobbing up and down in the waves or fishing with some companions.

Go out and enjoy the summer time!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
