Start Saying "Yes" to All the Things You Love

In a world full of possibilities, we find ourselves so caught up in the craziness of our daily life. While consumed in all this craziness, we tend to forget what it is we truly want-- better yet, what we deserve. So today, and every day moving forward, I ask you to take a moment each and every day for yourself. Take a moment to acknowledge the things you aspire to do, to be, to see. Know what it is that makes your heart overwhelming happy, and consume yourself within it. Begin to say "yes" to all the things that you love, simply because life is far too short to miss out on living a beautiful life.

Say yes to the small things in life, such as to enjoying a cup of coffee with a friend, or soaking up the sunshine in the five free minutes you may have in a day. Say yes to sitting around a bonfire reminiscing on all life's mishaps that could never be replaced, as it feeds the soul to keep moving. Say yes to watching fireworks simply to feel the rumbling through your chest, the rumbling that reminds you that you're alive. Just say yes.

Say yes to the hard parts of life. The things that terrify you the most, because you will never learn as much about yourself as you will in that very moment. Say yes to the job opportunity that you believe you are incapable of doing. Say yes to believing in yourself, because sometimes that is the hardest part of life. Say yes to falling in love with the person you have been dreaming of for so long, because it is better to have loved and lost, than to have never felt love at all.

Make it your priority to say yes to your own happiness. Take it upon yourself to walk away from the people that scar your heart, and cloud your vision. Take the time to understand what it is you truly deserve in life, and strive for nothing less. Embrace the changes life throws your way, as sometimes it is the things that are the very best for you and your growing soul. Say yes to the adventures that set your soul on fire, whether they seem craziness or not. Say yes to listening to music really loud, and dancing around the house at ungodly hours of the night simply because it makes you happy.

Say yes to all the people who tell you no. Be determined enough to prove to those who tell you no that you are capable of anything and everything life brings your way. Believe that you are unstoppable, but not invincible. Find the part of you that knows when to ask for help when you need it, but doesn't depend on others for everything. Say yes to being the best you, you can be.

When you begin to question where it is your life may be going, say yes to taking the reins. Say yes to steering your life in any way you choose, simply because you can. Say yes to the beauty, and the crazy, and the downright terrifying. Simply say yes to a happy life, and all the things you love most, because you deserve absolutely nothing less.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
