5 Ways To Start The Next Semester Off With A Bang

Procrastination is NOT the key to success.

5 Ways To Start The Next Semester Off With A Bang

I know how it works, you slack off the first few weeks of classes because it's the beginning of the semester, and you're just taking it easy. Next thing you know, you have 5 finals to study for and one week to get that 70 up to a 90. These are just a few things to keep in mind to make sure you have a stress-free semester, from start to finish.

1. Print out the syllabus - it will be your life line

Giphy

It has taken me until my junior year to listen to my professors when they tell me to PRINT OUT THE SYLLABUS. If you print out the syllabus, then you know where to look if you have a question that needs immediate answering. You can keep one for each class in your book-bag or on your desk, wherever would be best for you.

2. Write down all of your assignment due-dates

Giphy

This is SO important! I don't know how people can just remember when their assignments are due?? It must be a trait that I wasn't blessed with.

It's up to you how you want to do this, you can write out the dates in a notebook or a planner, which is my recommendation. I can assure you that having all of your weekly/monthly due dates written down where you can see it is CRUCIAL.

3. Get to know your professors

Giphy

I know this sounds "nerdy", but trust me, getting to know your professors can REALLY further you in your academic career. You never know when you might need a recommendation letter, extra help on an assignment, or when you need that "grade round-up" at the end of the semester... (we have all been there).

Also, when a professor can see that you're making an effort to be engaged in their class, it makes them more likely to work with you and help you in the future.

4. Interact with your peers

Giphy

Okay, how many of us have been in a class and at the end of the semester could probably only name 3 people?

Yeah, me too.

In wasn't until this past semester that I really tried to get to know the people in my classes, and let me just say, it was so helpful. Your classmates are the people that you can go to when you have a question, need a study-buddy, or even when you oversleep & need someone to sign your name on the attendance sheet... (oops)!

5. DON'T procrastinate

Giphy

I have never been much of a procrastinator, but I know plenty of people who are. I can always see the stress written all over their face when they are cramming the day before a big exam, or even trying to make that twelve o'clock deadline.

Tip:You can always write down the "due-date" for your assignments a day before the actual due date. This will ensure that your assignments are completed on time and that you aren't waiting until the last minute.

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.
