"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Movie Review

It has finally arrived! The seventh installment of the "Star Wars" franchise has finally come to theaters to kick off this generation's new trilogy. With this being a fairly new report and seeing that the movie came out just a few days ago, this review will be spoiler free. In this case, however, this reflection will be very vague on plot points and story line. So if you want to know all the real juicy details any "Star Wars" fan craves, I recommend you see it in theaters.

But without further ado, bring on the debacle!

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is the first "Star Wars" film that wasn't fully enhanced by creator George Lucas. Instead, Disney films and Lucas gave the job over to sci-fi engineer J.J. Abrams. Originally there was negative speculation about the choice of Abrams as director because "Star Wars" is such a successful and beloved franchise by many. Also, people grimaced to the fact that he rebooted the "Star Trek" films before taking on the project. "Star Wars" fans all over the world know that "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" don't mix well with each other. Well, enthusiasts, you can lay your worries to rest because J.J. knocked this one out of the park! Abrams' direction was brilliant at mixing the new characters with the old and retelling an old classic to the younger age. The story was very well put together, leaving myself and the rest of the audience to appreciate the cliff hangers (and yes, there is a lot going on in the film). Normally, "Star Wars" films have a knack for the intense action and purely dramatic scenes, which never really show a lot of comedic relief. To mine and everyone else's surprises, this "Star Wars" film was actually very funny. There were multiple moments where comedy really shaped the bonding with the new characters and helped to not be too serious when all was said and done.

Speaking of the new characters, they were absolutely amazing! We got to see the backstories of all the new faces "Star Wars" had brought to the big screen. Daisy Ridley was portrayed perfectly as a strong female casting of Rey, while John Boyega was brilliant as a bad guy gone good in Finn. My personal favorite, however, was the new villain of the trilogy, Kylo Ren. Ren, played by Adam Driver, hit a lot of emotions during his antagonist dilemma. While very cruel and harsh, he seemed to be more humanized than that of Darth Vader. And while I mention that, folks, Ren for sure is not Darth Vader. Darth Vader came across as a complete badass who would destroy anything if plausible. Very rarely did Vader have any true emotions (until Luke came into the picture). Ren, in this movie, had a lot of human-like qualities, even though he is the bad guy. Although he threw a good amount of temper tantrums, he had multiple moments where he didn't seem all that wicked. With this said, it comes in small doses. Kylo Ren is most definitely the bad guy, but it'll be interesting to see where Driver's character goes from here. Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac, was the underdog of the film. Although you don't see much of him, he is for sure the coolest character of the all the newbies. His appeal is very calm, cool, and collective, and I for one would love to share a beer with him. Think Poe Dameron as the starting quarterback for the high school football team in "Star Wars" logic. Everyone knows who he is and wants to be just like him. He knows he's the best starfighter pilot in the galaxy, but he doesn't let that get to his head. He is down to earth and humble, as well being sarcastic as hell. Can't wait to see more of him in the trilogy. Not much was brought upon Captain Phasma (the chrome stormtrooper), Maz Kanata, General Hux, and Supreme Leader Snoke, but hopefully more understanding will come of them in episodes eight and nine. Oh, and also, BB-8 was truly a fan favorite! The new droid worked wonders with the new crew and was hilarious (especially in a certain scene regarding a lighter). All in all, the new characters were stellar!

As for the older characters, Han Solo and Princess Leia were both outstanding! Han was especially terrific, being the scruffy looking nerf herder he is. Harrison Ford was truly a riot when he hit the big screen with his gigantic ol' fuzzy companion, Chewbacca. In my utmost honest opinion, Harrison Ford should be up for an Oscar nod, he was that good. I can't go too much into detail with that, but if you already saw the movie, you'd be agreeing with me. C-3PO is also hilariously quirky, as per usual, while R2D2 and Luke Skywalker play in highly emotional sequences. All in all, the older characters were breathtaking!

On a cinematography level, it hits every nail on the head. The score and music are hauntingly familiar and we, as die hard fans, adore that. John Williams, the composer, was truly magnificent in the musical direction of the film, playing old "Star Wars" classics, as well as mixing it in with the newer additions. Action scenes are everywhere in the film and, to make things even better, Abrams used practical effects and used very little CGI. All the more reason to make Star Wars look as realistic as possible. The acting, again, was phenomenal and every point was driven home for our emotional eyes and ears.

In conclusion, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be a glorious success story of the events after the fall of The Empire and is a must see for all, "Star Wars" fan or not. If you are a degenerate who hasn't seen or really involve yourself with the cultural franchise, do not worry, you could still go into this movie and enjoy the living hell out of it. Episode 7 does a terrific job retelling an old classic and brings back the love, effectiveness and happiness of the original three episodes. This new trilogy has been high praised for a while now, and it most definitely will get positive acclamation.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
