While other seasons seem to shift slowly, whenever spring hits a college campus, there are a ton of drastic, noticeable changes. Whether it be the number of students that you have never seen remotely on your campus now sunbathing on the quad or the dramatic shift of coffee to iced coffee, it's always obvious when the sun has started to finally shine over a campus. The biggest difference is the change from winter clothes to spring outfits.
While fall fashion is more like Diet Winter fashion, spring has its own unique style that people are always excited to switch to after months of cold weather. There always a few outfits, however, that at least a hundred people have on at any given point of spring.
1. "Sky's out, thighs out" and "Sun's out, guns out" t-shirts
For some reason, these shirts are particularly popular on college campuses. Just as the population of a school seemingly doubles whenever the sun comes out, these t-shirts seem to bloom out of nowhere, and you can't go a single day without seeing one of these shirts.
Though they are typically associated with Greek life, that doesn't mean they are exclusive or tacky. Who doesn't want their thighs out when there isn't a single cloud in the sky?
2. 100% Nike branded outfits
At first glance, these outfits look like they are for working out, but then you look closer and you are nearly positive that those clothes have never even been near a gym. However, this is fair. A lot of Nike and Adidas clothes are too cute to just sit and sweat in at a gym. They are put to much better use for sweating outside in the spring heat.
3. Pastel shorts and boat shoes
Boys who wear this outfit also would probably proudly claim that "Saturdays are for the boys" while also talking about "cracking a cold one with the boys" unironically. It doesn't matter if they've ever been even near a boat, their boat shoes are perfect for playing frisbee somewhere that is inconvenient for everyone else.
4. Sweat drenched long sleeves and jeans
Sometimes, it's hard to remember that the weather is starting to warm up when getting ready for an early morning class. However, come midday, those who forgot what spring feels like are harshly reminded with a wave of heat and sweat as they treck between classes.
This outfit usually incorporates jackets tied around someone's waist and sweat stains where there hasn't ever been sweat before.
5. Overalls and crop tops that were bought months ago
There's always a heat wave in the middle of summer that prompts people to buy warm-weather outfits. Now, after months of chilly weather and a ridiculous amount of rain, the time has come to break out the outfits that have been begging to be worn.
Overalls and crop tops are the best spring clothes. They are best when combined.
6. Hoodie, t-shirt, jeans, boots, and not a drop of sweat
Somehow, some people don't find the burning sun to be hot enough. If they are still cold in the heat of mid-spring, all you can wonder is how bundled up they are in winter.
