The weather is clearing up and the sun is shining brightly in the sky, it's almost spring time! It's time to break out your favorite pair of shorts and pack away those sweaters and jeans. As we enter the second half of the semester, the sweet smell of flowers fills the air as we get one step closer to summer. Spring time brings many wonderful things to look forward to and enjoy and help us get through these last couple weeks of school. Check out this list to see some of the great things springtime brings.

1. Getting to hear birds chirping in the morning.

2. Lounging outside enjoying the amazing weather.

3. No longer needing to bring a jacket everywhere.

4. Getting to see cute bunnies hopping around in their springtime joy.

5. Getting to eat ice cream without being asked, "How could you eat ice cream when it is so cold?!"

6. Seeing flowers popping up all around the quad.

7. Dogs running around campus eager for belly rubs and head scratches.

8. Throwing the football or playing ultimate frisbee in the sun.

9. Getting to wear cool new shades.

10. Setting up plans for spring break.

11. Only being one season away from summer!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
