Throughout this pandemic over the last 6 months, I've had a ton of down time. Now that I'm back at school, I'm busier with school work but I still have a fair amount of down time. During that time, I've had the opportunity to listen to a ton of new music, and listen to a few of my favorites on repeat. I use music as a sort of therapeutic thing, it helps to calm me down and "center" me when I'm feeling stressed or anxious.
Here's some songs that have been on repeat for me.
CTV3: Cool Tape Vol. 3 by Jaden
Jaden Smith recently dropped his 4th studio album on Spotify last Friday, and I've been listening to it since. I've been a huge fan of him since he dropped SYRE back in 2017. This album is something totally different for him, and it has such a good vibe about it. All of the songs are more "mellow" and are relaxing as compared to some hardcore rap that appeared on SYRE. Some of my favorie songs on the album are: Circa 2015, Rainbow Bap, LUCY!, and Boys and Girls. Also bonus points for the album cover, it's so beautiful haha.
Euphoria Soundtrack by Labrinth
About 2 weeks ago I decided to watch Euphoria because I've seen so much hype about the show on TikTok, so I decided to watch it. The show was great, but I thought the music was even better. Labrinth really put his all into this album and it shows. All the songs are so different, but they all work together so well. My personal favorites are: Still Don't Know My Name, Nate Growing Up, Forever, All For Us, and Formula.
Harry Styles by Harry Styles
Harry Styles by Harry Styles is such a classic album to me. From the rock tones of Kiwi, Carolina, and Woman to the sad songs such as Sign of the Times, From the Dining Table, and Meet Me in the Hallway, Harry really delivered on his first solo album. It was a totally different tone of what he did in one direction, and this was just the beginning of his very successful solo career. My favorite on here has to be Woman, it's such an empowering anthem for anyone, and my go to shower song.
Swimming by Mac Miller
I was never a big Mac Miller fan until this album came out back in 2018. I feel like Swimming is one of the best rap albums to date, in my opinion. Every single song has such a nice flow to them, and each of them work together beautifully. This is a go to album when me and my friends are hanging out, especially if we're in my friends pool. My personal favorite songs are Ladders, 2009, Self Care, Hurt Feelings, and Small Worlds. Honorary mention of the song The Spins which is on his first album K.I.D.S as another favorite.
