People can say what they want about the South, but it's a great place to be. There are stereotypes for every area of the U.S., and being a southerner myself, I have heard quite a few about my region. I will say that I have visited a great number of places and I am happy to be from this beautiful part of the country. Here are a few reasons why the South will bless your heart. Super cheesy pun intended.
1. Lightening bugs in jars are a staple childhood past time.
2. It is not abnormal for a cow to be across the street, what am I saying, in your school yard.
3. Football season means tailgating and cornhole.
4. It is a pretty common practice to hear a prayer at a sporting event.
5. "I'm fixing to go" means you are getting ready to go somewhere, you aren't actually fixing anything.
6. Ya'll is a real word.
7. Yes Sir and Yes Ma'am are still very common to hear from younger generations.
8. Tea is already sweetened before it's ice cold and scientifically impossible to mix.
9. Gravy, biscuits, and tomatoes is a dish that your grandmother made you for breakfast. From scratch.
10. When you walk down the street, you can count on multiple people saying hello.
11. Lawn chairs are an acceptable way to sit in your driveway, or front yard.
12. The high pollen count means there is so much green surrounding you.
13. You can be in the mountains, or at the beach, within a days drive.
14. Houses that would be 2.5 trillion dollars out West are $200,000 in the South.
15. The phrase "I feel like a busted can of biscuits in this dress" is completely understood.
16. The Christmas Village is a magical part of childhood.
17. Riding in the bed of a pick up truck can be done legally.
18. Chicken houses are not an unfamiliar scent to your nostrils.
19. We support our soldiers.
20. You are rich because you were given a penny for every time someone said "Bless your heart."
