No, I'm Not Sorry That I'm Busy

Having a busy schedule is never a bad thing.

If there is one thing in life you should not feel sorry about it is for having a busy schedule.

Being busy is an awesome thing! It means that you are out there doing things. You are not sitting at home on your couch watching Netflix and eating microwavable meals. You are out there making life happen for yourself. Whether you are working three jobs, are a full-time student, you are volunteering or a combination of all three, you should be proud of your busy schedule.

It certainly does stink when you cannot make it to $5 burger night with everyone or you need to skip a football game because of your work schedule, but when you look back, would you rather look back and see someone who did not do anything worthwhile with their time or would you like to see someone who worked hard?

By no means do we want to spend our lives selling our souls to working or to school but that is 100% better than having nothing to do. A vacation here or there is always needed but you should rock that busy schedule.

I get it, it is crazy hard to schedule time with friends, a date, and even dinner with your parents. When it comes to friends, they should be the most understanding of your busy schedule and get it when you say you have to work or you have hours of homework ahead of you.

For the person you are trying to schedule a date with, they should appreciate that you are such a hard worker and if they are really interested in you then they will surely put a little more effort in and work around your crazy schedule. For mom and dad, can you do breakfast at 6 am instead of dinner?!

So often do we feel bad when we have to say "No" to things in life. If you are saying "no" because you are afraid to leave your couch, well that is a silly excuse. Saying "no" because you have a lot on your plate and simply do not have the time to spend casually with your friends, it is okay.

We need to start embracing our busy lives and enjoy the time that we have in the classroom, at work, or volunteering because believe it or not, it will not last forever (even though you probably feel like it will).

Take pride in your work and do not let those that say you are too busy keep you down.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
