Songs for The Struggle
Hillsong

Music is a huge passion of mine. In my times of struggling against the world and myself, I turn to music. It is proven that music can affect our attitudes and how we feel. I can say from personal experience that music can be very persuasive in times that I am struggling with my thoughts or with my feelings or just struggling in general. Recently, I have started to listen certain songs every day, just to lift me up and to help change my focus from the world back to God. These are some of the songs that have helped me change my mindset, and have helped me get through the struggling, and have reminded that God is there through everything that we go through no matter what.

Here as in Heaven - Elevation Worship

Just to sit and be within his presence during this song is beyond exceptional. Elevation worship is one of my favorite bands, and this is one of my favorite songs by them. Whether reading the bible, doing homework, or simply singing while this song is playing, it always seems to draw you in and raise something inside of you. It releases a call for Christ and the Spirit of God to come and surround you with his love and presence, and to just sit with you in this moment. No matter what you have been going through, this song is a spirit drawing song.

Hills and Valleys - Tauren Wells

This song isn’t like the majority of the worship songs that we here, but it is a reminder that God is there with you through anything and everything. It states some of the struggles and facts that we can often forget in our day to day lives. Whether you are on the hilltop or going through the lowest valley, God is standing beside you, guiding and protecting you. You are never alone.

What a Beautiful Name - Hillsong Worship

Hillsong Worship, in general, always has a way of easily drawing you in worship and causes you to seek God. This song does that as well. There is no name more beautiful, more powerful, or more wonderful than the name of Jesus. NOTHING compares to Him. Just to sit and soak up everything this song is about brings satisfaction because we serve a mighty and powerful God.

Clean - Natalie Grant

We all have some kind of past, whether we have followed Christ our entire lives or we just found Him. I believe that this song is so great for this generation because I have heard so many people say that God doesn’t love them, or they couldn’t be a Christian and come before God because they have an awful past, but that’s not true. This song talks about how there is NOTHING too dirty for God’s mercy to clean.

Come, Lord Jesus - Far-Flung Tin Can

This song is calling for Christ to come and dwell in our souls, which can look different for everyone. This is a song that people can get easily lost in because it is so strong and the call for God is so evident. We need more and more of God and we can never get enough, and this song draws us more and more into Him. Drawing near to God can bring so much relief and realization, which we need every day.

Reckless Love - Cory Asbury

This song shows the pure and relentless love of God. It speaks about how He would do anything to get to us and nothing can stop His love for us. It’s such a strong and eye-opening song. Even when we had our backs turned to Him, He was still watching over us. No matter how many times we run away from Him and His love, it chases after us and fights for us. It’s almost too much to take in, that someone can love us that much. It’s absolutely incredible.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
