When your upset or feeling down, it's easy to start thinking about everything negative going on and to completely disregard anything positive happening. Sometimes, regardless of what people say or do to help you, you just can't help but feel hopeless and discouraged.

Whether it's the pressure of school, a breakup or simply having a bad week, we all need a reliable way to lift our spirits at times. Music can completely alter our mood without us even realizing it and can ultimately change our day. If you're having one of those days, here are some of my personal favorite songs that will hopefully make you smile and forget what made you so upset.

1. I Wanna Get Better - Bleachers

If this was never one of your favorite songs, you may have never heard it. Whether your working out or just spending time with friends, this is always a jam.

2. Mr. Blue Sky - Electric Light Orchestra

This song is the ultimate mood changer. If you're not happy after this song, it's definitely something you're not overreacting about.

3. Electric Love - BØRNS

Windows down and cruising down the highway, this is the song to scream along to in the car with your friends. Hopefully, this song reminds you of simpler times.

4. P.Y.T. - Michael Jackson

Although this is an older one, it is an undeniably catchy hit. Most of Michael Jackson's songs will make you feel better.

5. Float On - Modest Mouse

This is that one song you randomly became obsessed with a few years ago and may or may have not forgotten about.

6. All the Small Things - Blink 182

This is one of the most popular songs of the late 90's and early 2000's for a reason.

7. Chocolate - the 1975

Let yourself fall in love with Matty Healy's voice and suddenly all of your worries go away.

8. Mr. Brightside - the Killers

A go-to party song and a jam. Blast this song and you'll probably start thinking of a completely different and happier time.

9. Runaway (U & I) - Galantis

You may want to Runaway, but hopefully listening to this song will change your mood and your mind about that.

10. I Wanna Dance With Somebody - Whitney Houston

Self-explanatory. This song will always be a bop.
