Managing mind, body, and soul.

Something Like The Trinity

Mind, body, and soul. There's a balance that must be stricken between these three life components. Maintaining this balance allows for one to find their equilibrium and live a happy peaceful life. This is not to say that even if your life seems balanced you will not run into trouble. We live in a changing world with new challenges every day.

Let us first start with the mind, the mind is made up of all your thoughts beliefs etc. What goes into it can either corrupt it or allow for growth and maturation. The mind is an amazing thing that can be developed into a complex organism. In my opinion, the mind is the key to unlocking body and soul. If your mind is right you can conquer obstacles with a clearer vision of the world. Each person perceives the world in a different way based on our mind's eye and our frame of reference. Getting your mind right is all about conditioning yourself to be optimistic and positive about each situation you're faced with. Self-confidence plays a role in this because people are tuned to weed out fakes. Confidence can be faked for so long before you get called out for it. Our minds healthiness is the precursor to balance between the mind and body.

Now when I say body you might believe I am talking about working out or how many cups of water you drink a day. It goes farther than what you put in your body or what your workout routine is. Your bodies health is comprised of this and more. It's how you eat, it's how you feel about your body etc. Being body conscious is always a good thing but not to the extent where it compromises your mental (mind) health. Each of these components, mind body and soul, affect each other and as we talked about earlier are all in balance.

Lastly, the soul which goes past what your mind and body are. The soul is the root of who you are spiritually and realistically. When the soul is not at peace you can sense it. For example, you can tell when your best friend is faking happiness but are actually hurting. When we act out of character our soul is in disagreement with this facade we are creating. It's cliche to say be who you are and transparent but that is what it breaks down to. Being straightforward and honest with yourself makes it easier to share that kind of honesty with others. The soul is at peace when your conscience and actions are clear.

Mind, body, and soul. Having each of these in balance can transform a life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
