Some girls like wearing makeup. Some girls don’t. Some BOYS like wearing makeup. Many others don’t. None of this should matter to anyone else.
Makeup is a form of personal expression. Some people use it to cover blemishes, some people use it to try out new styles, some people just feel extra beautiful with a bit of eye shadow on. However, so many people feel the need to mock these habits. People are constantly saying, “Take a girl swimming for the first date.” Guess what, that’s what waterproof setting spray is for.
Wearing makeup is not lying. If someone is too ignorant to realize that eyelids are not naturally shimmery gold and lips are not naturally cherry red, that’s a personal problem. People who enjoy makeup should not be mocked and looked down for enjoying the artistry of it. Filling in eyebrows should not be a joke. “He wiped away her tears… and accidentally her eyebrows too.” If your hands are anywhere near my eyebrows when you’re trying to wipe away tears, I think you’re doing something wrong.
Makeup is an art. While you drool over celebrities who are looking flawless, you simultaneously demonize your peers for trying to be the same. It’s ridiculous. Letting people live their lives cost $0. Usually.
If you don’t like someone’s makeup, don’t make a comment. If it doesn’t affect your life in a negative way, just be quiet. If you do like someone’s makeup, tell them. Compliment them, let them know they’re doing good. Everyone can use some encouragement.
