Today, many teenagers have to deal with multiple different issues. Exams, work, social life, homework, sports, etc.. are just some of the issues young adults have to deal with, not including drama, and cliques. The biggest issue girls have to face today and all the generations to come would have to be how you appear to yourself and others. Self image is extremely important to all teenagers, and will only increase with the years.

Not to be self-conscious is very rare in this generation. Teenagers are so worried about what people think and how they look, that they stray away from worrying about the important issues. With society pushing beauty in teenagers faces everyday, we are forced to become so infatuated with image and how we look. If one doesn’t conform, one would looked on as being weird and are outcasted. This issue is just going to continue to get worse as time goes on. Just look how much society has changed with the view on beauty since 1950s.

When you step away from beauty and appearance, you get more in touch with yourself and the world around you. We need to stop pushing teenagers to become obsessed with beauty by holding back some of the images and focusing more on what's important, their future. We are teaching teens to be more involved with their look than their community, this is a problem.

When I was a child I remember maybe once asking for a makeup kit for christmas, but usually asking for more video games for my brother and I to play with. Nowadays little girls are getting into makeup before I even knew what makeup was. Now don't get me wrong I love my makeup now, but it is a hassle putting it on every morning. And if I don't put it on, it is my personal opinion that I look sick or like a drug addict. We are forced to contour and to wing our eyeliner. And what is the point? To look good everyday? For who? Because if you love me, you should love me without my makeup on.

I wish we could just love ourselves naturally. I wish we didn't have to put our faces on just to go out in public. I wish I can rock my messy bun everyday, because I hate doing my hair. I hope that one day we move toward this era of going natural. Screw society and it's social norms. I want to make a movement to love ourselves. Lose interest in what people think and start to connect with your inner personal beauty. Love yourself and the world will be a better, kinder place. Be real and humble, and be thankful for everything you have. Be the best you, you can be and be free of society's pressures.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
