Now onto the discussion with myself, thoughts, and what some may consider a rant about all things social media, phone addiction, and electronics. Don't get me wrong, I love all things media, I even hope to pursue a career in this exact field. However, the current generation is too obsessed. And that is an understatement.
You walk around the mall or the park and see people taking pictures of everything, 'capturing the moment', behind their phone instead of simply enjoying that moment. Even the people who record every single song at a concert instead of just listening to the music. These people not only are wasting their batteries...what if they got lost?...BUT they're hindering the surrounding concert goers. Myself, specially dislikes when people do this because I am, what some may describe, vertically challenged. So when you put your tablet up in front to record a song, and then turn the extremely large object around to record you and your friends singing along, please keep in mind that the short girl behind you can't see a single thing.
Again, I am also on my phone more than I prefer because it is in fact the way everyone communicates these days. Snapchatting and Gramming instead of visiting or talking. Even texting gets old after a while. I, for one, hate texting. I know, shocker to hear someone under the age of 60 expressing this. But come one, you can't even argue that phone calls are better; hearing their voice and being able to understand what they mean when they say certain things, rather than decoding emoji use and the difference between 'ha' and 'haha' with your friends.
Summary:
- It's okay to take pictures and videos of stuff, just be aware of your surroundings and use a different filter every once in a while (be original).
- Don't be afraid to call your crush or go out for coffee instead of snapping at your dinner table.
- PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN. Enjoy your company and play some cards or something.
- And don't forget ... stay in school.
