PSA: This content comes with mild to medium melodramatic antics.
I am tired of the snow. Point blank. As a girl coming from the south, I am not used to snow every other day in the winter months as say, a northerner would be. Back home where I'm from if the forecast calls for a single snowflake school is canceled, businesses are shut down and forget about any bread or milk on the grocery store shelves because that stuff is DESERTED.
Sounds fun, right?
Well when I was in high school and didn't have places to go it was oh so so jolly, but my reality now is that I'm a college student in New York City where it NEVER STOPS SNOWING (told you about the melodramatic antics). Now I never expected a winter wonderland when it snows in New York, but I didn't expect an uninviting black slushy on the sidewalks and pavement. Between slips as I try my best to walk to a class that's not canceled my eyes battle with the snowflakes piercing my face too. The winter cold (especially this year) turns my nose into a faucet much to my dismay.
After disrobing thirteen layers of clothing and sweating in the process I must find a location to place my clothing which is a conversation for another day. My irritations pile up much like the snow. You'd think that the holiday spirit would fix it, but I haven't felt that since 2010 and it's now January so the festive celebrations are long gone.
You see, I am writing this because unfortunately, there is a 40% chance of snow coming my way and I'm not sure if it's here to stay. To say the least if spring doesn't come soon I'm going full Back to The Future Part II because enough is enough. To all of my fellow peers and students feeling the same way I'd like to end on a good note. Hang in there and my recommended location of the week in these conditions is Central Park. Despite nearly getting frostbite in the frigid snow it's really a sight worth seeing (at least for the time being ba dum tss).
