10 Unique Things You Know To Be True If You Own A Small Dog

In This Article:

Throughout my entire life, I have owned small dogs, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. These furry little guys are the best type of companions, but they seem to face a lot of heat from individuals who own bigger, and more dominating pets.

My small, less than 20 lb babies may be pampered; they don't like jumping in the water, they get tired from walking too far, and maybe they sleep all day. But I can assure you; they are just as much as considered as a "real dog" than anything else.

1. They can physically fit anywhere and everywhere

I have found my little guy sprawled in between cabinets, hidden deep inside laundry baskets piled with clothes, and maybe we have attempted to fit him on a shelf in the refrigerator. (If you were wondering, he fit). If this isn't entertaining to you, I don't really know what is.

2. They find every way possible to cuddle up next to you

At times I find my little guy climbing and plopping down my shoulder, across my head, and right underneath my armpit. And yes, it is still incredibly cute, cuddly, and comfortable.

3. Walking them is super easy, even if they get tired too fast

These tiny pups ain't pulling me ANYWHERE

4. Not to mention... smaller poops

Lets just face it, do you like picking up large dog poops? Didn't think so!

5. You can easily carry them with one arm and immediately feel 10x better

Throw on a cute outfit, carry your dog, take a good look in the mirror, and tell me you don't feel immediately cuter and ready to take on the world.

6. They know EXACTLY when something is wrong, and can fix anything with those tiny puppy kisses

All we really need in life is for our dogs to kiss and hug away all our problems... right?

7. For all those people allergic to dog hair, these little guys are most likely hypoallergenic

8. Small pups are so much easier to transport

Car rides might seem a bit scary for these little guys, but someone in the passenger seat can easily hold onto them during any trip! They'll most likely fall asleep on your lap due to all the excitement of getting in the car anyways.

9. Tiny dog food is a lot cheaper than bigger dog food, just saying!

Smaller dogs may have stricter diets with what they can and can't eat, but it is definitely a lot cheaper! One large bag of dog kibble could easily last you months at a time rather than a new bag every few weeks.

10. They might be small, but they have huge hearts

How is it possible for such a small dog to have contain so much love!?

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
