Why Wearing Slippers In College Is The Absolute Best

I am a college freshman and the whole experience has held a ton of surprises and fun ways to learn and grow. One of the weird shockers, that I did not expect was how much use I was going to get out of my old tan Ugg slippers. I highly recommend the investment because it will pay off and you will not regret it.

1. Wear them on your dorm floor

Whether your walk to the communal bathroom is long or short, slippers are the right call to get from place to place on your floor. If you have to run to the bathroom late at night or get to the get there in the morning to brush your teeth, slippers are the easiest and most convenient choice of footwear.

2. Wearing them in your room

While your room may be a tad bit dusty or dirty it's not always fun to go barefoot. You can slip into them while you study or vacuum in your room, so your feet remain cozy and warm.

3. Wearing them in the morning

Before, you go to sleep set up your slippers beside your bed so that when you wake up your feet can slip right into them. If you have an early morning class, you can walk to your local coffee shop in them (if it's close by) and still feel comfy while you get your caffeine fix.

4. Go to lass in your slippers

Okay, so in terms of college attire, when it comes to classes, people dress rather laid back. I have worn slippers when I have an early or even afternoon class, that I just can't wear my stiff sneakers too. There is no shame or judgment in remaining comfy while in class! In fact, most people are probably doing the same.

5. They are perfect for cold weather

Slippers are especially useful if you attend college in a cold place. The winters at Syracuse can be rather lengthy and I would much rather have a pair of slippers in my closet rather than my flip flops, even if it is just for indoor use.

6. Time saver

This reason is a little absurd. Just hear me out! In college, laziness takes on a whole new meaning in your life and you would be surprised at the things you find yourself doing in order to procrastinate or avoid doing something. However, when you are rushing in the morning, sometimes you just don't have time to untie your shoelaces, slip them on, and tie them once again.

Ugh, the agony! Why go through all of that, when you can just slip on some soft and luscious footwear. Although you have to get out of bed, you can remain somewhat in your sleepy state by giving your feet a comfy cushion.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
