If you are a fan of multiple genres all with a hint of scary, this series is a mix to satisfy many binge watchers. With it's dramatic, horrific, and thrilling elements, "Slasher" has a lot to bring to the table. According to Wikipedia, its genres include: Drama, Anthology, Horror, Slasher, Mystery, Suspense, and Thriller. Streaming to homes around the world with its availability on Netflix, the Canadian made television series currently only has one season available to watch. It keeps you on the edge of your binge-watching nest with heart pounding surprises, shocking twists and turns and frequently bloody messes. Keeping most of us guessing until the very end, unless you are a seasoned veteran of the thriller and horror type genres, "Slasher" will have you saying out-loud who you think the killer is.
It all goes back to the main character's parents who were murdered in the town of Waterbury by the Executioner, the town's infamous murderer. The main character decides to return to this town to break free of the past by diving into it, as she, Sara Bennett, mentions in the series. To do this, she along with her husband Dylan decide to move back into her parents' old house; the one they were murdered in. After Sarah's return, the Executioner immediately strikes once again. Only this time, it's not the original murderer. The main characters learn it appears to be some sort of copy cat. Much more drama continues to unfold as the series continues, and the main characters fight for survival.
Some aspects I found interesting include...
Religious-based murders:
The Executioner used the sven deadly sins as motive for his murders. For those of you who don't know the seven deadly sins include they are: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride. He had one victim for each of the sins.
Baby daddy drama (spoiler alert):
The main character, Sara, finds out that her father is none other than the man who killed her parents all those years ago, the original Executioner.
Everybody is a suspect and it doesn't confuse you:
Sometimes when TV shows have a murderer and they want to keep the audience guessing, it can be a very long and mind-boggling process to keep up with all the possible suspects. This series did a fantastic job with keeping it interesting, and you guessing while at the same time not confusing you. Remember, everybody's got a secret.
All in all this series was a great choice for my latest Netflix binge. If you are someone who likes the sound of what's above, then this should definitely be on your to-watch list. That is right after you finish watching "Stranger Things."
