Everybody wants to have beautiful, flawless and glowing skin, and it's really not that hard to accomplish! As long as you stay away from doing a few things and make sure to always do other things, everyone has the potential to look and feel their best. I have struggled with acne for many years now. My face is still not acne free, but it is a work in progress, and I have been seeing results. This is something that does not happen overnight; it takes a lot of patience and dedication.
1. See a dermatologist.
This is such an important first step. Seeing a dermatologist will help you figure out what type of acne you have and some causes. Also, the doctor can prescribe you medication or topical crèmes to help get rid of stubborn acne.
2. Take off makeup before bed.
This is a step that a lot of girls struggle with, but it is a must! After wearing makeup all day, it collects dirt, bacteria and sweat. Letting this stay on your face and allowing it to soak into your pores overnight is a cause of a lot of breakouts. Make sure to remove all your makeup before jumping into bed to eliminate any extra breakouts.
3. Wash and moisturize two times daily.
After you have taken off your makeup at night, make sure to wash your face to get off all the dirt that was left behind. Wash your face again in the morning to get rid of all the oil and buildup that got on your face from sleeping on your pillow. I just started using to Cetaphil cleanser and I am in love! It is so gentle yet effective. After each wash, make sure to apply moisturizer to keep your face from drying out. I have also been using the Cetaphil moisturizer, and it adds a lot of moisture and is good for sensitive skin. These products can be found at any drugstore.
4. Drink lots of water.
Drinking water helps to flush out any toxins in the body. If you drink a lot of water, this will help flush out any of the impurities in your face, as well as provide many other benefits to the rest of your body.
5. Cleanse with warm then cold water.
When washing your face, start by using warm water to get your face wet. Using warm water will open up the pores on your face, so your cleanser can penetrate deep into them. Then wash your face, and when you are done rinse your cleanser off with cold water. This will seal your pores back up again so no dirt or grime can get back in.
6. Clean makeup tools weekly.
This is for all those beauty lovers. If you use any beauty blenders or makeup brushes to apply your makeup, make sure that you wash them once a week. This can vary depending on how frequently you use them. These tools collect dust, dirt and bacteria that you then rub on your face. Keep them clean by rinsing them with a gentle soap. Shampoo works as a great substitute.
