Hello everyone! Hope here! So, for this week's Odyssey article, I thought I'd do something a little bit different. Now we all know that disgusting feeling we have whenever we first wake up in the morning, right? Lucky for you, I am about to share six weird habits that help wake me up in the morning with the hope that they will make waking up a lot easier for you as well!

1. While showering in the morning, wash your face with soap and water... And actually get soap in your eyes.

So this might be kind of painful, but trust me, it works! I absolutely cannot function in the morning until I've had a shower. And, during that shower, I find that getting soap in my eyes actually helps me wake up a lot faster than if I were to avoid getting soap in them. Yes, it burns, but it also forces your eyes to come out of drowsy mode.

2. Think about food.

Here's something that I think will work for both guys and girls: think about food! When I first wake up in the morning, thinking about food usually motivates me to get up, get ready, and eat something before I have to go to class. Not only will thinking about food make you get up a lot faster, but it will also push you to satisfy your stomach before those early morning classes.

3. Listen and dance to upbeat music.

So this one's pretty self-explanatory: listen and dance to upbeat music right before you head out for the day. This will definitely put you in a good mood as well as get your body moving after being practically motionless for several hours (hopefully), so just do it!

4. Do your makeup and dress nicely even if you do not plan on doing much that day.

Here's one for all of the girls out there: do your makeup and dress nicely even if you do not plan on doing much that day. I personally love wearing makeup and dressing nice on a daily basis even if I do not intend on doing much. Not only does it enhance my confidence, but there's just something about putting on makeup and dressing up that helps me wake up a lot faster than if I were to go without doing so. Plus, it's also really fun to show yourself off to the world!

5. Think about the fact that if you don't get up soon, the people around you will start to think I'm lazy.

I consider this habit to be especially weird, but it definitely speeds up the whole process of waking up in the morning. Yes, you shouldn't care at all what people think. But doing so in regards to sleeping in when everyone else around you is awake will definitely motivate you to get out of bed and start your morning.

6. Procrastinate.

I've decided to list and explain this habit last because you honestly should not do this. At all. But, for those of you who are interested, here's the habit: if you have homework that's due the following day, leave some of it incomplete so that you actually feel obligated to wake up and do it that same morning before class. Doing this will cause your brain to function much earlier instead of at a later time. Just make sure not to leave too much work incomplete before going to sleep that night. In addition, make sure you dedicate enough time to completing your work in the morning so that it is as polished as possible.

That concludes this list! Yes, these habits are weird, but they certainly do work if you do them right!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
