There are things about my appearance that I need to do. One of the biggest things I find necessary, personally, is painted nails. There are two reasons I need my nails to be painted: The first is that if they aren't painted then I will bite them into nubs, and the second reason is that I think that when my nails are perfectly manicured, the way they look makes me happy. Here are some colors that I think are perfect for the beginning of the school year.

1. A color to match your skin tone.

Since the year has just begun, you are probably moving into your new housing. This might cause your nail polish to chip. If you paint them a similar color to your skin tone, then the chipping will be less visible.

2. White or black.

I think these two colors are such a staple in a nail polish collection. Right now, my nails are white and I love the way they look. There are two kinds of white: white-white or yellow-white. Personally, I think the white-white looks best because it is so much brighter and they look so clean. Black nails are also sleek and, like white nails, can go with any outfit you're wearing.

3. Maroon.

Dark colors are my favorite for the fall. As the colors of the leaves change and they begin to fall, the dark colors will look great alongside the changing colors of the atmosphere. Dark reds and maroons remind me so much of Thanksgiving, which is one of the best parts of the fall.

4. Grey.

This is one of my favorite looks for the end of fall and throughout winter. There are so many different greys to choose from and they are all so unique. You could wear a dark grey during fall and gradually wear a light grey during winter. When I think of winter, snow is the first thing that comes to mind. I like to wear light colors in the winter to help me think of snow in a place that doesn't get any - Florida.

5. Brown.

This is a very unique color for the fall and winter times. It looks great in the fall because it goes perfectly with the tree transitions when the leaves are about to fall and after they fall they turn brown.

6. Navy blue or sparkly white.

In winter, the snowy night times are beautiful. The sky looks almost like a dark blue and the snow sparkles from the moon's reflection. These colors are two of the most beautiful colors to have in winter and it is a nice reminder of curling up in bed during the cold winter nights and looking outside the window at the sparkling snow and the starry night.

There it is. A short list of six great nail colors to wear during this fall and winter. These colors either go hand in hand with the seasonal colors or they balance out the atmospheric colors for the next seasons.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
