When moving into your college dorm, either for the first time or the fourth time, there are some very important items that you might want to have in order to make your life a whole lot easier. These items are small and often forgotten but they can be the difference between a smooth year at college or a disastrous one.
1. Command strips and hooks.
Command strips are great for hanging up posters, canvas, photos, or a number of other items. Hooks are useful to out by your door for your keys or in your bathroom for your towels. These small items have any number of important uses and should definitely be on your college checklist!
2. Batteries.
You would be surprised at how many things in your college dorm you will need batteries for. Anything from your alarm clock so you can get up for class, your lamp if you can't plug it in, and even the remote for your TV so you can watch your favorite shows.
3. Duct tape.
Well, duct tape fixes everything. You can use duct tape for just about anything. If you run out of command strips, you can always use duct tape! If your mirror comes off the wall, duct tape it back up there! Or call maintenance. (That is probably a better idea.)
4. Calendar.
A calendar is always useful. You can organize your time and it's right there in front of you on the wall. A calendar is especially important if you are involved in multiple organizations or sports teams on campus. (You should get involved! It's a great way to meet new people and have fun!)
5. Shoe hanger.
No one wants to have their shoes all over their closet floor. Especially if you are in a rush and cannot find one of your shoes. Get a shoe organizer! It helps!
6. Ethernet cord.
For those times when the school WiFi is overloaded and you can not get it to work fast enough to submit that last minute paper that you procrastinated on until the night it was due, I can not stress enough how important having an Ethernet cord will be! It will save your academic life!
These items might be small but they can make a big difference in your college experience. Even something as small as a command velcro strip can make a big difference! So start with these things and add your own list of helpful items! Good luck!
