“I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life.... if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be.” – Roald Dahl
I see people in college every day who are just following the path of least resistance. I ask people, "What is your major?" and they skillfully respond with a series of highly qualified majors and minors. I then proceed to ask the questions, "Do you see yourself doing this every single day for the rest of your life?" and "Are you truly passionate about this field?"
Usually I get a few eager answers, showing me how much they care about the given field, but most of the time, they are confused as to why it matters if they are passionate about the field.
Guys, let me tell you—passion is the single most important thing to have in life. Some people underestimate the idea of doing something in life. Every single one of us has one life to live. As cliché as it sounds, it is important to live life to its fullest extent and do what you love.
With passion comes happiness, with happiness comes a life of smiles, and with that smile (and hard work) will come the correct amount of success. In the past couple weeks, I have thought about death and how life can be taken away from you in any minute. What is the legacy do you want to leave behind? Are you going to be happy with how people see you and how your life has played out?
Why is a hobby turned into a hobby and not a career? It is truly saddening how many people take something they love and turn into a side activity for which they usually lose time for.
You will notice that half this article is full of questions. Questions every single person should ask themselves. Take the simplicity of the my views, and just make a short analysis of your life, and figure out if you are truly satisfied.
