You Are Worth It!

There are worse things in life, than being single on Valentine's Day.

You Are Worth It!
Growing Self

To some people Valentine's Day is the best day of the year, but to other people it is the most dreaded day of the year. I fall in the latter category. Not only do I dread the day itself, but the whole month of February.

I blame it on how much emphasis today's society puts on Valentine's Day. If you walk into a major department store the day after Christmas, they are already planning for Valentine's Day. Women start dropping hints on December 26th to their significant others on what they can get them. But to us single girls, it starts our couple months of dreading social media posts.

So for all you single girls out there, this one is for you! I know it is hard (and you are probably going to want to throw up at some point during the day), so I made a list of some things to do to help you get through the day.

  • BREATHE. First and foremost, take a deep breath. It is going to be okay, and tomorrow is just another normal day. Don’t be jealous of the girl that only gets flowers on Valentine’s Day. Be jealous of the girl who gets them on random days throughout the year.
  • Have a glass of Wine. Or Jack. Or Tequila. Something alcoholic. Not enough to make you pass out drunk, just enough to chill you out.
  • Take a Hot Bath. You know, it is good to pamper yourself. Take a bath, and have some quiet minutes to yourself. You might even incorporate the point above in this situation.
  • Fix your Favorite Meal or Get Take Out. You know that feeling after you eat your favorite meal? How happy that makes you. Do that.
  • Work Out. Nothing gets your mind off the world around you as working out with music jamming does.
  • Watch a Movie. Preferably, a horror or action movie with lots of killing and unhappy people! Don’t give in to those feelings and watch a sappy romantic movie.
  • KEEP YOUR HEAD UP! Just because it isn’t your favorite day, and you are probably doubting yourself, that doesn’t mean you are not good enough/ pretty enough/ skinny enough/ smart enough for a Valentine. Your person will come one day, and they will love YOU! So hold your head high beautiful girl, put a smile on your face, and take each step with purpose cause you are WORTH IT!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
