If you know what pleasant valley is, understand the trick "max all motives" and can comprehend just how valuable the word "motherlode" can be, you have definitely lived a great life so far. The world of the Sims is known as a virtual simulation of our basic reality. Although it is just a computer game that was once all the craze, the life lessons and processes these characters go through relates good and well to the reality of today.

1. Sims must work to make money.

Ahh, money. Bills, food, the works. Unless you are a sims master and understand "motherlode" it's not so easy to survive and live the life you want on the sims without getting a job. Humans aren't the only ones enduring those 9 to 5 shifts, (although we also don't have fast forward buttons, but that's beside the point). If a sim wants to live a lavish life and make an honest living, they are required to go to work and abide by the same ways we live life in the real world.

2. They have life aspirations.

You know the beginning of the game where you get to decide what your sim's life goal is going to be? I bet you've played the game at least once or twice using your own real-life career aspiration, don't lie. The same goes to show for the sims. From a tender young age, or sometimes even all the way into adulthood, we decide what we want to do with our lives and what is worth pursuing. The same concept is mirrored in real life and within this game, showing us that life goals are an important part of this adventure called life.

3. They get pissed off when things go wrong.

Sims and humans definitely express it in different ways, but all in all, anger is a common thing between the two worlds. For example, as humans, it's the little things that make us tick, like tripping over a shoe that your brother left laying in the middle of the entryway. The same reigns true for sims, however, it takes a little more than a shoe. Things like a chair blocking their direction of walk results in an uproar of flailing arms at this horrific occurrence.

4. Sims make mistakes.

Everyone is human and everyone makes mistakes, even the little characters we control with a mouse. Maybe your boss offered you a task that you decided to decline, only to find out later that you are not advancing fast enough in your career because of it. Maybe you wanted to see what would happen if you chose the wrong answer for your boss's occasional "what would you do in this situation" scenario, and you've offended the authority figure. Whatever it may be, human or sim alike, mistakes happen and are just another part of life.

5. You need to make an effort.

In relationships and friendships, you won't get away with slacking off. If you frequently deny get together's, and do not chat on the phone enough, believe me you will not be surprised when you get that dreaded notification that you and so and so are no longer friends anymore. It is important to keep the relationships and friendships alive in order to continue to thrive in the social aspect of the game and in real life.

Although sims is just another virtual simulation game, the opportunities and ways of life are endless, just as they are in the real world. Each situation offers the chance and opportunity to wake up everyday and change your life. If you're not happy, it shows in your sim's mood meter, if you're not happy in real life, it shows on your face and weighs on your spirit. Many lessons can be applied to real life from this game and vice versa. Now if only we knew how to use the "motherlode" cheat in real life... now that would be something!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
