This summer so far has given me a new found appreciation of live music. Of course I have always appreciated it, just especially so in the last few months. Allow me to elaborate: heading down to a neighborhood bar or restaurant where a local band is playing on a Saturday night sounds like an ideal way to spend some time.
Though small-scale, you'd be surprised how good some live tunes can be. Even if they're not playing your favorite songs or genre, take a second to enjoy the ambiance. What do you have to lose? If they're a local band, they usually get a kick out of talking to some audience members, so put in a song request, why don't ya? Most of them are middle-aged guys trying to convince their teenage children that they're still cool, so give 'em a confidence boost. And even if the band doesn't hold a candle to the Stones, it's worth checking out even for a little while.
Dance, groove, tap your foot aggressively, it doesn't matter! Live music is a great experience available pretty much everywhere, so check out what music is playing in your area. Even if it's a popular band holding a concert at an arena or whatnot, you don't have to break the bank to get some tickets. Even the day before, some people realize they can no longer attend and sell their tickets for whatever they can get for them. They may not be floor seats, but even if you're in the nosebleeds you can still hear the performance. We gotta listen to as much live music as we can before it's all replaced with computers (no offense, Daft Punk, I love you dearly). Summer is the time for chill situations, so pause the Netflix for a few hours and check out a band with your pals. Even if you don't end up loving it, going out for a while is better than doing nothing at all. Not every concert has to be life-changing for you to be able to enjoy it.
Groove on!
