'Unfabulous' And 13 Other Shows We All Loved As Tweens And Still Miss Today

In This Article:

As a mid 90's baby ('95 to be exact), I grew up in a time where technology was progressing but it didn't dominate our lives. We had our favorite movies, which we watched on VHS. We had cassette tapes of our favorites albums which we listened to in the car, on our home stereo or our own person boom box. While we had the option of playing back movies or tv songs, the same wasn't true of television.

After school and evening programming brought forth some of the best content the late '90's & 2000's had to offer.

Of course, we all remember the classics like "Sponge-bob" and "Lizzie McGuire." But whether you watched Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network or PBS during your "tween" years, I guarantee you there are probably quite a few shows that you totally forgot existed.

"Chalk Zone"

Remember when "Sponge-bob" drew things with a pencil and they came to life? (Frankendoodle,"mi hoy menoy)

Well, about two months later the very first episode of "Chalk Zone" aired. Instead of a magic pencil, "Rudy's got the chalk" that brought his drawings to life.

"Life With Derek"

I completely forgot about this one until I saw Ashley Leggat playing the role of Tara on "Good Witch."

Truth be told, this show was great at showcasing a blended family dynamic kind of like a modern day "Brady Bunch."

"All Grown Up!"

This one was a follow up to a childhood classic. Incase you didn't know, you don't have to wonder what happened after the diaper days or what Dil grew up to look like... your answers are right here in this animated series.

"Danny Phantom"

.Ash wasn't the only one who was gonna "catch 'em all!" Danny Fenton wasn't out to catch any "Pokemon" but instead save the world!

"Zoom"

You might have forgotten about this show but you probably didn't forget the address...

"Z-double Oh-M Box Three Five Oh! Boston, Mass! Oh Two One Three Four! Send it to Zoom!"

And let's face it... you tried speaking "ubi dubbi!" (If you're really feeling nostalgic, the "Ubi Dubbi" translator is still online!)

"A Pup Named Scooby-Doo"

Although this was probably released earlier on, I remember catching this show and falling in love with it instantly.

I'm sure my parents also loved the show because it definitely had me begging them to add "Scooby Snacks" to the grocery list. (You can still get those by the way!)

"Brandy & Mr. Whiskers"

This dog, rabbit duo was always getting into some kind of trouble. But what else could be expected when you throw animals of their type in the Amazon?

"Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius"

This one had kids everywhere praying for a "brain blast" on just about every test they took at school.

(Also I'd like to thank Bolbi for getting "slap, slap, slap, clap, clap, clap" stuck in my head for eternity.)

"Even Stevens"

Little Shia LaBeouf definitely flourished after this show but I truly loved the chaos that ensued between himself an Christy Carlson Romano!

"Unfabulous"

Before Emma Roberts was killing it on "American Horror Story" she was in her room singing about the love of her life, a.k.a. Jake Behari.

(Totally guilty of owning a couple of these episodes of the for my Video Now XP... I bet you don't remember what that is!)

"The Proud Family"

I gotta say it. Macy Gray killed it with this theme song! Looking back, the funniest thing is that I never correlated Ginger Foutley's name to her hair color...

"As Told By Ginger"

I gotta say it. Macy Gray killed it with this theme song! Looking back, the funniest thing is that I never correlated Ginger Foutley's name to her hair color...

"Catscratch"

We all laugh at that person who overly spoils their pets but these cats received inheritance. Quite frankly, I don't think I'll ever be living as large as these three felines.

"Phil of the Future"

We all loved venturing through time with Phil, Pim, and one half of Ally & AJ.

By the way, Ricky Ullman's real name is Raviv... and I feel like my whole life is a lie.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
