Some people watch Netflix year-round, some people only watch Netflix during breaks from school. I'm one of those people who watch Netflix during the breaks. With winter break fast approaching or just starting, I've gathered a short list of programs you should definitely check out on Netflix.
*These shows aren't Netflix-exclusive and are mainstream, however I 100 percent recommend binge watching them anyway.
"Doctor Who"
Anyone who knows me, knows that "Harry Potter" and "Doctor Who" are my favorite series probably of all time. I found it hard to get into DW for a hot minute but with each new Doctor, their personalities and nuances grow on you as much as their companions and the adventures they find themselves in. I can say that while this show isn't typically scary, there are maybe two or three episodes that were a constant jumpy, OH SH*T, moment, i.e. in the GIF above.
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
This show is totally kick-ass and usually action-packed. For those of you already immersed within the Marvel universe, here's another one for you. If you're tired of all the Marvel/DC nonsense, you'll probably still like this show because it's just so great.
"The 100"
"The 100" is a show that I try to get all of my friends to watch, but they never do. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world (surprise, surprise) but there's just something about this (hunky, beautiful) cast and the storyline that keeps you waiting with baited breath for next week's episode. This show is based on a trilogy of novels by Kass Morgan but if you haven't read the books, don't worry because the show has its own set of writers.
"Supernatural"
"Supernatural" definitely has a cult following. I was a little late to the party and started the series just last year. It took me until this past summer to finally catch up to the current season...and then all my free time went, so I'm still catching up. It's funny, it's quirky, it's SCARY, but most of all, it's interesting. I find that the first few seasons are the best because it's a different adventure with each episode.
"The Walking Dead"
Do I even need to introduce this one? It's gross, gory, thrilling, and infuriating all at the same time. MAN, I cannot wait for it to come back.
On the other hand...
"Z Nation"
It's the B-Grade "The Walking Dead," but iit s wonderful in all the right ways. It's funny, still kind of gross, but I got hooked immediately. And I regret nothing. If these aren't really your thing, here are some other suggestions:
"Persons Unknown" (Mystery/Drama)
"Hemlock Grove" (Horror/Thriller)
"One Tree Hill" (Iconic, must see - Teen Drama series)
"Jane the Virgin" (RomCom)
"Orange is the New Black" (Comedy/Drama)
"Parks and Recreation" (Comedy)
"90210" (Super Dramatic)
"Degrassi" (All Of Them -- even more dramatic, but a must-watch)
"How I Met Your Mother" (Do I even need to?)
