Now, more than ever, I've found myself watching way more television than I ever have before. What I've come to find though, is that no matter how many shows people recommend for me to watch, I always find myself rewatching old shows I've already finished. I don't know if it's the nostalgia I get from watching them, or if it's the fact that I genuinely enjoy these shows, or both, but these are some shows I never get bored of watching over and over again. Read below and see if you agree! Who knows, maybe these will become some of your favorite shows too!
Glee
GiphyAnyone that knows me knows that I am a Gleek through and through. I still enjoy watching the show and listening to the music, even ten years later (the show originally aired in 2009). Recently, Glee has been trending in regard to all of the bad things about the show: controversial story lines, ridiculous moments in the show, scandals with the real-life actors, or bad singing. In my opinion, Glee was so important to watch growing up. I saw myself as Rachel Berry and it helped to hear things like, "being a part of something special makes you special," especially at 14 years old. I definitely recommend watching it now.
One Tree Hill
GiphyThis show has something for everybody. Growing up, I loved these characters and identified with all of them in some way, shape, or form. I adored the Scott brothers. I aspired to be as strong as Brooke Davis, as artistic as Peyton Sawyer, and as smart as Haley James Scott. This definitely took a little bit for me to get into. My advice is to keep watching after the first season because trust me, it gets so much better. I honestly thought it was a crime for this show to be removed from Netflix.
The Office
GiphyI can't even begin to say how many times I've rewatched episodes like "Gossip" and "Fun Run." This show is comedic gold and I laugh every time I watch it. While the show is mainly known for its comedy, it definitely has some heartwarming moments as well. Who didn't shed a tear when the crew sang their own rendition of "Seasons of Love" for Michael at his last Dundies? Definitely a feel-good show, I don't think I'll ever stop watching.
Grey's Anatomy
GiphyThis show. I was obsessed in high school to the point that I wanted to be a trauma surgeon and almost did a pre-med track in college (spoiler alert: I am no longer pursuing that because it's not as easy as the show makes it seem). I used to throw around medical jargon like, "Code Blue," "V-Fib," and "LVAD Wire" (that last one always hits close to home...miss you, Denny Duquette). While I'm not currently up to date with the episodes, I love watching the older episodes and reminiscing about the original cast. This show made me want to dance, laugh, and cry, sometimes all at the same time (especially the scene in this GIF). Maybe I'll try to catch up on the current season.
Arrested Development
GiphyThis show is insanely funny. The jokes and running gags always earn a laugh from me. The dynamic between the characters is outstanding. My favorite line from the entire show is when Lucille says, "If you're saying I play favorites, you're wrong. I love all of my children equally." She is then shown earlier that same day saying, "I don't care for Gob." (Gob is her oldest son). The cast is great too, with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Portia De Rossi, and Jessica Walter to name a few. Liza Minelli has also guest starred! Incredible show overall.
Bojack Horseman
GiphyWOW. Not enough can be said about how this show makes me feel. Yes, it's animated. By no means does that indicate that this show is for children. It's the exact opposite. I have never seen a show depict adulthood so accurately. This show hits the nail on the head when it comes to what it means to be human (ironically doing so by using animals as some of the main characters). Not only is it real, it also makes fun of modern Hollywood (or Hollywoo in this show's universe) in a hilarious way that never fails to make me laugh. Sometimes the show will display celebrities and have the actual stars voice themselves! For example, Daniel Radcliffe, Jessica Biel and Wiz Khalifa all voiced themselves. Some of the best moments of this show are "blink and you miss it." Keep your eyes peeled. I've rewatched the show three times now and I still see something new every time. More people need to watch this show to truly understand its brilliance.
Clearly I'm passionate about these shows. I always recommend them when people ask me what I think they should start watching. Definitely give these shows a watch!
