Why You Should Experience Europe
Maddie Ruth

Traveling the world is a spontaneous dream almost all people have. It could be because you are having a midlife crisis, you are trying to find yourself, you are studying abroad, or maybe you just want to see what else is out there. Traveling is a great thing for anyone. It allows us to open our eyes, to see what else is on the big blue planet that we all call home. Recently, I traveled to Europe and with no effort at all fell in love with this beautiful place. It still carries all of its traditions that originated a very long time ago. The language is beautiful, the food is fantastic, and the architecture is breath-taking! I truly believe that at least once in every person’s life you should travel to Europe and tour the countries. You will learn so much while being in Europe. It is such a great way to learn about people, and to see how people in other parts of the world live. Here are five reasons you should book a trip to Europe at least once in your life.

1.The food

The amount of traditional style restaurants of all of the cultures is unbelievable. The food is mouth watering, making you feel a part of their traditions while stuffing your face full of food. If you can make friends with some of the locals do it, maybe they will be welcomingly enough to invite you to the home for a real traditional meal. The chocolate is so good. My personal favorite is a Swiss brand named Kinder chocolate, but all of their chocolates are delicious.

2.The architecture and view

There are real castles, YES real castles that as little girls we all dreamed of living in. Of course, now they have almost all been turned into tourist attractions where you walk around with a guide and have lunch on the roof after. The churches are breath-taking all being huge and historical. The mountains look as if you climbed into a postcard photo that you sent to a family member. The homes are all very traditional where ever you go, most of the time the inside is decorated in a modern look since that is the style over there currently.

3.The people

People watching is so much fun in Europe. You get the tourist walking around everywhere with their go pro recording every moment. Large amounts of selfie sticks you will see being held up into the air is unbelievable. Some of the locals still dress in the traditional clothing you have learned about like men wearing trousers, but the younger generations have put their own modern twist with the style. Throughout the cities you tour you hear traditional music of that country being played live. With the tremendous amount of tourist, you will just blend in with the crowd, you will probably make a few friends along the way as well.

4.The shopping

There are so many places to shop in Europe, especially in the bigger cities. My personal favorite city I shopped in was Salzburg, Austria. Up and down the streets were name brands after name brands. The employees are always happy to offer you their help. If you ever lose your luggage during the travel (which I hope does not happen) no need to worry the cities have you covered.

5. It is romantic

You will fall in love. I promise whether it is with the person you are traveling with or the stranger you walked by while passing through in Switzerland. The cities at night are so intimate; so many chic restaurants where you and the person you love can have a quiet night together. The beauty of Europe has a special way to cast a spell on you. I for sure recommend traveling to Europe for a getaway for you and your significant other.

Europe is a far travel from America, but it is worth it. The trip is pricey and your feet with feel numb by the end of the tour of Europe. What is important though is that you experience something beautiful, you saw a part of the Earth and you experienced what it is like to live in another country’s lifestyle. Postcards and pictures sent by a friend is nothing to compare when you finally see the amazing continent with your very own eyes.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
