In my high school there was one teacher with tattoos. I remember it clearly. He was the only teacher I had ever seen with tattoos. I wondered why this was. Tattoos aren't bad. In fact, I'm going to be a teacher and I have tattoos. Will this affect me finding a job? Probably, but I don't think it should.
I have tattoos that are small, meaningful, yet visible to others. I don't believe this should stop me, or anyone else, from finding a job. Many parents have tattoos. I work at a daycare and it seems about half the parents have tattoos. They all work in respectable jobs. Why can't teachers have tattoos then?
I think people don't want teachers to have tattoos because they're supposed to be role models. I get this. Many parents don't want their kids to have tattoos. But parents should think about the people their kids look up to that do have visible tattoos. For example, celebrities, doctors, nurses, etc. These people are more looked up to than teachers, right?
Now I'm not saying they should have tattoos that display inappropriate meanings or anything like that. The tattoos should be tasteful and positive. I personally think that tattoos tell a story and could be a better way for people to get to know their teachers on a personal level.
In the end, in my opinion, teachers should be allowed to have tattoos. As long as they're tasteful and positive. Tattoos can be a way to better get to know your teacher. They can also be fun and show a person's personality. I don't believe they give someone a bad reputation or make them a bad role model. All teachers should be allowed to have tattoos if they wish.
