Should DJ Khaled Be Our Next President?

As the 2016 Presidential Election campaign continues to flourish, it seems as if most of this year's candidates either enrage us or make us go "meh" and shrug our shoulders. I personally think we could use a new perspective, someone fresh, and a man that knows how to connect with the people through modern technology. The person who I am referring to is Snapchat's newest and most beloved celebrity: DJ Khaled.

Hip hop producer DJ Khaled began sharing his journey of the keys to a more successful life through his daily inspiring speeches on Snapchat in 2015. Now, after this star’s following became large enough to adopt fans from ages 13 to 85, I think many people who are new to these inspiring phrases are wondering why would we want to take advice from a large, hairy man going through his daily private tasks such as showering and even sweating it out during a full gym session on the elliptical?

The answer, my friends, is simple, and quite frankly, this guy has some serious potential for a presidential candidate position.

First of all, he cares about his fan base, which I’m almost positive would be reflected onto the entirety of America, quite possibly even the world, if he was elected president. Fan love equals citizen equality, am I right?

Secondly, the man truly advocates for the right to an essential animalistic need: eating. Aside from DJ Khaled’s agreement with the company, Ciroc, to advertise the expensive liquor through pictures and photos, he really loves to let us know what he’s eating. His gourmet, yet healthy, portions correlate to the fact that each and every American should have access to food. This is an essential part of his day, and it is something that is truly cherished. He would definitely not like to see anyone go hungry.

Here is where my theory comes to a little bit of a halt. The potential candidate uses the phrase “bless up” daily, which, depending on how you look at it, may not be a separation of church and state. Though some people wouldn’t even acknowledge this saying as actually advocating for a specific religion, it still may cause controversy among the American people. We would have to provide a disclaimer of Khaled’s promotional ads and posters if we were to use this ambiguous yet hopeful phrase, letting the people know that blessing up is really picking ourselves up from whatever heavy pressures are forcing us to hunch over.

On a lighter note, the producer is passionate about the environment. He wakes up each morning and waters the plants of his own multimillion-dollar mansion, where we are lucky enough to greet the “lion," a statue that is representative of our own character and how we must continue to unleash our inner beast, even if we think we have reached success.

As far as views on foreign policy go, DJ Khaled believes that there is a “they” and a “you." The “they” in a situation does not want you to succeed, do your best, have a jetski, pet a tiger, run two miles, eat a piece of double chocolate cake, basically anything that you want to do “they” do not want you to do. Therefore, DJ Khaled believes that in order to be the best person you can be, do what feels right to you only (this may look like separatism).

Finally, Khaled Mohammed Khaled is the type of man that brings out the best in each and every one of his followers, employees, fans, etc. He enjoys making people happy, knows his self-worth, exercises, has fun with friends, has several jobs, makes time for people whom he may not even know, all while continuing to encourage based on his own accomplishments, and of course, is a great public speaker.

Overall, the man seems like a well-rounded guy, and if elections were purely based upon apps that were created in order to send nudes, he would be my first choice.

Voting is a major key. Bless up.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
