What is life? Let me tell you. One day you’ll be on top of the world, and the next day you’ll hit rock bottom. One day you’ll get in a car accident, and the next day you’ll find out a family member has been placed into the hospital. One day your flight will be cancelled, and that same night your luggage will be stolen. You get the point. Life isn’t fair, we’ve all came to that conclusion. Sometimes the only thing you can say is “That was unfortunate.” Things happen that cannot be justified by a court ruling, or by the soothing words of your loving parents. Some things can only be fixed by the passing of time or accepting what had happened and putting it behind you.
There are positives about the lows too, though it may be hard to see the light in the midst of all the dark. Lessons are learned, experience is gained, and it will make you a better person in the end. But of course with every low, there is a high. At times life will seem too good to be true. We’ve all been there plenty of times. Everything in your life is going well, and you will not be able to find a single aspect of life to complain about. You get a raise one day, the next day your jury duty is cancelled, and the following week you get approved for that loan you need to buy your new house. Life could not be better, the only thing you’re worrying about is when that luck comes to an end. Whatever goes up must come down, and that’s a fact. It seems that your life can only go so well for so long before rock bottom heartily welcomes you yet again. It’s an ongoing cycle that is inevitable and is something that cannot be prepared for. No one knows when a drunk driver will T-Bone them on the way home from a baseball game with the family. Or no one knows when cancer might reappear after five years of being cancer-free. The only thing you are in control is how you deal with it, how you react to it. Whether it be accepting it, and just dealing with the way it is. On the other hand, you can choose to complain about it and do nothing to better off your situation.
As I stated earlier, life isn’t fair. You will go through times that will push you to your limit. You will go through times that will turn you into an emotional roller coaster, and make you into a complete different person. You have to look at the bright side of things, even when it may be pitch black. Whether you like it or not, you will fall. What matters the most is if you stand up or not. Sometimes it takes a good fall to really know where you stand. If you are to take away anything from this, just know you will hit rock bottom, but what’s important is how you deal with it. Just remember one thing. Sh*t happens, but life goes on.
