Seven People You'll See in Every Class

Seven People You'll See in Every Class

Mr. & Miss Absent

This person is your typical bag of lazy-bones; they never go to class and never finish the homework nor the activities. When they actually do come to class, they're late. But, guarantee, they will always be there to take the test. And the worst part of it all? They end up with better grades than some of the full-time students.

Mr. & Miss Late

This person won't miss a class but they are always late. They will get to class after everything is explained and done, but still tries to manage to get things done. It's hard to know where they sit because they will be seated in a different chair each class, basically taking the last seat available.

Mr. & Miss Know it All

There is always that one person that won't let you participate because they are the only one who “knows" the stuff. It almost feels like they've read the entire book before each class. I don't really know. These are the kids who will get into arguments with the professor and will answer everything the instructor asks.

Mr. & Miss I Have No One to Talk to at Home

This person is always trying be funny, throwing bad jokes that don't make anyone laugh. And they won't shut up for a minute. These are the classmates that we need to run away from; they are always trying to have a conversation with everybody around them and won't hesitate to participate in class.

Mr. & Miss Lost

There is also always the person that is so lost and is clueless about what is going on around them. They don't know when the quizzes or homework are due, or even when the next exam is happening. Sometimes, they don't even know the instructors name. They are in their own little world and have no idea what the class or discussion is about. You can always find this person playing with their phone, texting, using their computer, or worse— sleeping. You can find him/her by the back corners of the classroom, maybe wearing a hoodie so they can wear their headphones with nobody noticing.

Mr. & Miss Nerd

Mr. and Miss Nerd are always representing their kind. This particular student will be the first one to make the presentation or write on the discussion board. They will write a five page essay when the instructor only asks for two. This person is always the first one to arrive to class and you can always find them sitting in the first row, in front of the instructor.

Mr. & Miss Flirt

There is always that one guy/gal that tries to talk to everyone they see in that class. Team work? More like the perfect opportunity to chalk up the hottie next to 'em.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
