In the past 2 years Jack and I have done our fair share of traveling, and with that comes trying tons of different kinds of food -- from fresh seafood in Gulf Shores, to Tennessee barbecue, all the way to the vast variety of food Disney World has to offer. Part of the travel experience for my family is the dining, and doing as much traveling as we do I am used to a much larger array of options for food than what Mount Pleasant has to offer on the surface.
From just driving down Mission one would just get the impression that Mount Pleasant consists solely of chains, but there are a few hidden gems here to be found. What we determined to be at the top of our list is Hunan House. Hunan House has been at the top of my list as my go to place for the past 4 years, it's cheap, they have good hours, and it's free delivery, what's not to love?
Second on the list is Dog Central. Jack fought me heavily on this one, but ultimately it beat out Pixie for the number two spot. I let Jack land Dog Central at number two because he loved the quality of the food so much. I wasn't as big of a fan, but, hey, at least he was happy. Also, we went at lunch time when it was pretty empty and I can say that I did enjoy that there weren't people running around left and right and it made for a decently relaxing lunch.
Lastly, with the bronze medal was Pixie. I appreciate Pixie for their large menu selection, as it often prevents nights of arguing over what to have for dinner since there is something for each of us. The one downside to Pixie, though, is that for the price the portion sizes are ridiculously small. Jack also added that he is not a fan of the lower quality of food they serve there as well.
In the future we are definitely looking to add Midori to the ranks, but unfortunately right now the barista lifestyle doesn't accommodate their prices, or any prices in general, really.
