“Scream” Season 2 Episode 4 Review: “Happy Birthday To Me”
MTV

The reemergence of Lakewood's newly notorious ghostface has patiently waited in the shadows long enough! All the momentum is finally building up before he or she finally makes their harrowing presence known to the now, Lakewood five. It's fair to say anyone is up for grabs as the killer taps into their deepest fear and desires before letting the real party begin. In my review you'll find out who are favorite characters really are once their inside their own heads. That thought of it is scary enough!

1. Emma’s dilemma:

Time to turn up the heat in Lakewood. Our favorite final girl is finally starting to live a little but that’s all about to change … In this episode of “Scream” we witnessed an entirely new side to all of our favorite characters, but for Emma the haunting memories only make a comeback. She’s in a vulnerable spot, wanting to trust the people around her but knowing deep down something isn’t right. The big question of her entire hallucination is: Was that really Ghostface who attacked her in the woods? I was on the fence about this one. As Emma narrowly escapes the freak behind the Brandon James mask we see the environment around her is completely blue up until the moment her father stumbles upon her, returning the colors back to normal. Could this have been a premonition of the future? Will her and Ghostface go one-on-one for a second time? One last thing … Eli better back up and off of Emma these next few episodes. All this family love triangle mess is hurting my stomach.

2. Hallucinogens & hook-ups:

What happens when a bunch of traumatized teenagers end up tripping balls together? More than what we were expecting. To no fault of their own, the Lakewood gang fell victim to a purposely poisoned tequila that left them losing their minds. It affected everyone differently, however. Eli had the giggles, Brooke had haunting visions of Jake who messed around with her subconscious, and Audrey kissed her dead girlfriend, which showed us that she takes full responsibility for Rachel’s death. The best part about this entire inherently creepy psychological journey was the three-way make out session between Noah, Zoe, and Audrey! My jaw dropped to the floor when this scene happened. I always had a gut feeling that Noah and Audrey had some physical attraction lying in the depths, but the moment Zoe initiated it further, I was hooked. I know a thing or two about bi-curiosity, so needless to say, I was having a little FOMO moment. I mentioned last week how Zoe was slowly becoming one of my favorite characters and this flare by her might have sealed the deal.

3. Gutsy Gustavo:

There’s not a chance Gustavo is our man behind the mask, but again, I could be wrong. Something tells me that his story in all of this isn’t coming to an end anytime soon. For what reason is he so obsessed with the Lakewood Six? Once Audrey triggered the fire alarm to get a good look inside his iPad and found all of the weird pictures he drew of them, I began to ponder if he, in fact, idolized them. All we truly know about Gustavo is that he’s a loner, but keeps a watchful eye. Moving around as a kid must’ve prevented him from making stable friends, but it’s clear he’s found a calling in Lakewood. He is hesitant at times and has yet to talk much about his past or feelings in general. Maybe he’s hiding a secret underneath all that suave?

4. Jake of the Lake:

I wish it was my birthday because this was the best present “Scream” will ever give us! The setup for this final scene of the episode was more than I ever expected. Brooke boasts an undeniable confidence and to see that pushed to the limit was heartbreaking, but also outstanding all at once. Mirroring the famous ending to “Carrie.” we see Brooke step on stage as the last finalist for the Lady of the Lake pageant. As the celebratory banner unravels above her, the anonymous rain of viscous blood trenches every inch of the innocent white gown she has on. Oh, you thought that was it? The next thing you know Jake’s dead body comes hurtling down and smacks the floor right in front of her! The moment shocked everyone and Brooke let out her famous ear clenching scream. I had no idea what intentions the killer had for Jake’s body, but he couldn’t have done it any better. It’ll be interesting to see how she works through this horrible experience. Will Brooke, “the victim” come back to the surface or will we see a new heroine in the works?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
