“Scream” Season 2 Episode 10 Review: “The Vanishing”

After fellow classmate Haley Meyers became the next bloody victim in the killer’s path, the games don’t seem to be stopping there. They specifically target our final girls, Audrey and Emma, in an effort to not only tear open their pasts, but also to make them play god with their friends' lives. Unfortunately in Lakewood, no one is safe and this time. Not a soul is walking out unscathed.

1. Emma and Audrey: A Final Game

This tale of deceitfulness, lies, and morality is soon to come full circle. Both Emma’s and Audrey’s struggles merging together marks the start of a realization that their problems are forever intertwined. With Audrey’s connection to Piper finally spilling over and revealing the truth to Emma about her time in Lakewood, the trust in the air couldn’t feel more broken. From what we’ve heard from Audrey, she wasn’t aware that Piper was murdering the teens of Lakewood and vouched her story by telling Emma she was with Piper at the Crescent Palms Motel the night of Rachel’s death. Even though she is hesitant about going into detail, Emma knows there’s more to it. The symbolism and sheer anger that dribble off Audrey’s letters was enough to assume that darker emotions were at work. The real shocking twist of this episode was how well the killer was able to pin the pair against each other. Even under all the pressure of having to find Noah and Zoe, they still managed to work out their differences. Emma was very hungry to know the real intentions of why Audrey brought Piper to Lakewood in the first place. After repeated lies to Emma’s face, Audrey finally admitted to being in love with her. She claims Emma broke her heart and that’s why she hated her so much. Through it all the past is only the past, and the final girls must do what they do best and put a stop to the killer.

2. Noah and Zoe: A Tragic Love Story

All good things must come to an end, and for Noah Foster these ends are never enjoyable. His turmoil in this episode was hard to watch through. From being stabbed, buried alive, and forced to watch his girlfriend suffer in a watery grave, I’d say his innocence is officially gone. The killer was undoubtedly going to use he and Zoe’s relationship against him so he should’ve seen this one coming. Noah may know a significant amount of the Lakewood murders, but his love blinded him to the little details and gave the killer what he needed to hit him where it hurts. One aspect of this season's killer that I always highlighted on was the fact that their brutality met no limits. After Noah barely escaped the clutches of suffocation he was forced to watch Zoe slowly drown to death until he came to her rescue. Once they find her coffin and managed to open it up they find out their heroic deeds are coming too late. The video feed the killer was streaming to Noah was previously recorded and Zoe had died far before he could do anything to save her. The killer only wanted to evoke that same gut wrenching feeling he went through when Riley was slain by Piper in season one. I had begun to suspect for a while that Zoe could be the killer or one of the killers. Alas, Zoe’s honest personality reigned true above all, but her keen mind wasn’t enough to outsmart the killer. As we say goodbye to one of my personal favorite characters, her death brings us closer to person behind the mask. Beware, this death is far from the last.

3. Sheriff Acosta and Maggie: A Secret Buried Within

What are they hiding? The question of the hour may finally have been answered for us in this episode. In scenes prior, we saw Sheriff Acosta and Maggie discussing the possibilities of these murders being traced back to them from an outside source. All of Sheriff Acosta’s theories point back to the infamous Brandon James. Crazy as it may seem, the flashbacks involving the pair showed that Brandon survived that gunshot on the dock and escaped into the woods. A teenage Maggie enlisted the help of Acosta, where she then brought them to the spot Brandon ran off too. At this time it’s still unclear whether he committed the original murders or not, but what we know now is that he walked away with his life thanks to Maggie. She an Acosta brought him back to the pig farm where he lived, buried a knife in his yard, and left him to die presumably but never thought under any circumstances he would survive or have any intentions of returning to his old life. Could Brandon be the one stalking and murdering all the teens of Lakewood or is someone making it appear that way?

Killer Theories:

  1. Kieran
  2. Eli
  3. Brooke + Gustavo
  4. Brandon James / Audrey’s dad
  5. Quinn Maddox

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
