Should Schools Reopen For The Fall Semester? Here Are Some Students' Thoughts

During this uncertain time, the President and many politicians are pushing for schools to fully reopen for the fall. With that, many others do not believe that schools should fully reopen and should remain online for the fall semester. Because of this, I wanted to know from others if they thought that schools should reopen..

I wanted to get a better perspective from others on social media. I decided to create a poll on Instagram asking, "Should schools reopen in the fall?" and why. The next day, the results were in. At least 57% believed that schools should reopen in the fall and 43% believed that schools should not reopen in the fall.

The people who said that schools should reopen in the fall responded back with wanting to return back to "normal life," and wanting to take the right precautions, such as social distancing and requiring all teachers and students to wear masks. Some answered with online learning not being the best for everyone. Two replied with not wanting fall events being cancelled, such as football games and volleyball seasons.

The people who said that schools should not reopen in the fall responded back saying they had concerns with the fact that COVID-19 is still surging across the country and schools are perfect places for students to get easily sick. Some answered with how uncertain they are about how COVID-19 is going to affect us in the fall. One replied that vulnerable students will be most affected and reopening schools will be extremely dangerous to go back.

Every state is different and should think carefully and thoroughly to make the right decision. If schools go forward with reopening, they should take precautions by requiring students, professors, and other visitors on campus to wear a mask and social distance whenever possible. Please stay safe and make the right choices.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
