The only thing worse than the holidays is when they come to an end. All the food, fun, and alcohol start to settle and you realize you're fatter, broker, and drunker than you were a month earlier.
You also come to the sad conclusion that in a matter of days, you'll be back to the caffeine addiction inducing place we call college. Once again, you'll have to say goodbye to free meals, free laundry, well basically free everything. Oh, and friends -- those are important, too.
It can all feel a bit sad, and the amount of dread that starts to set in rivals that of Ned Stark waiting for freaking winter to show up. Speaking of good ol' Ned, I thought a few gifs from "GoT" could help better illustrate the despair that has descended upon my mental state.
You have to brace yourself because school is coming.
How? Why? Whaaa? Where did the time go?!
Your pet knows you're leaving and stares you down.
I'm sorry! You know I would take you with me if I could, but, wait, my RA doesn't have to know everything (you quickly look up school's pet policy).
You realize just how broke you actually are going into the new year.
Note to self: Never spend money. Ever again.
You check the scale.
So, that's where all that food went. Whatever, it was worth it.
So you just numb the pain.
Your expected winter fling goes from this...
To this...
Laughing to hide the pain.
You see everyone's "New Year New Me" BS.
So you're finally going to change your entire life -- good job. Maybe that'll work out better this year than in the past five. Who knows, maybe hell will freeze over and pigs will fly -- it is 2016.
You try not to watch the calendar as each day slips away.
Is it just me, or does time literally fly like her dragons?
What you're going to feel like after one week without your mom's cooking.
Remember when food was free? Yeah, me too. Childhood was great, let's go back!
You dread going back to class and feeling like you know less than Jon Snow.
He's not dead. He's not dead. He's not dead!
But, in the end, you know everything will be OK, because you're going back to college and freedom is a beautiful thing.
From the time of New Year's day to when your respective school begins, it can really start to feel like the countdown of your life. It's all very bittersweet and confusing and you don't know wether to laugh, cry, see friends, hide out in your room, or all of the above (I don't recommend this).
But you just have to remember that home is great, but so is your new home, and you should enjoy it because it's only fours years, unlike a "Game of Thrones" summer.
