Back To School Thoughts As Told By Salem From Sabrina The Teenage Witch

Yeah, yeah. This topic is cliche... especially this week. However, there has never been more of an embodiment of a college student going back to school than Salem, the pet talking cat in Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

1. Before you buy all your book and back to school things:

You're finally relieved because you made so much money from working over the summer.

2. After:

Books are expensive and somethings you just can't resist buying for the dorm room.

3. When you're so excited to get back to school because you're bored.

Being at home can sometimes be... boring. College has a diverse range of possibilities.

4. The night before you move out and you have to ask your parents a ton of packing questions:

My mom wanted me to go away because I was asking so many questions! DO WE HAVE MORE STAPLES?

5. When you have to pack everything you own:

Anyone would rather be hanging out with their friends from home.

6. When you're the first one to move in and you don't care what bed you get:

Not everyone has a bed preference.

7. After you're done moving in and you look in the mirror:

Move in is sweaty and exhausting.

8. When you're proud of your sweet room set up:

For some people, decorating a college dorm and doing it well is something to be proud of!

9. When your parents leave:

You'll miss your parents everyone once in a while and vice-versa.

10. When the partiers emerge the night of move in:

11. When you experience practically unlimited food with meal points:

It certainly doesn't feel like you're spending money!

12. When you stay up late the night before classes start and you have a 9 a.m.

Waking up is the worst part!

13. When you needed the textbook on the first day and weren't told:

Dang it!

14. When you're taking a class you know you'll probably hate:

Those are usually the required classes you couldn't get out of even if you tried.

16. When you're taking that impossibly hard class:

BUT, you would have had to take it eventually!

17. When you've been home for so long that you can almost hear your mother's voice when you're doing something you know you shouldn't:

... but you do it anyways because you're in college!

18. When you come in contact with some students younger than you:

In reality, you were probably just like them.

19. Even know college can be hard... It's some of the best years of your life. So smile like you're not buried in homework:

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
