If you haven't received any of these, then you're living a nice life. If you have, then you know what I'm talking about. You've probably seen stuff like, "You owe "x" amount of money in student loans," and probably other emails and texts like "Hey, hit me up, and I'll hook you up with..."
And this is probably your reaction:
When I was 12, I started getting voicemails and texts, addressing me as Tracy (I'll leave out the last name in case the real person may see this, and knows her old phone number was tracked and called a million times). For 4 years straight - I'm not kidding - I was called by random companies claiming that I owed tens of thousands of dollars in student loans. Every time I answered, I always told them that I was a twelve year-old and hated getting these weird calls. One day I literally snapped and screamed at them, and told them to STOP CALLING ME - THE WRONG PERSON!
Then another time, some random guy kept texting me and calling me Tracy, and actually started to say some...things. Luckily, I FINALLY stopped him from continuing to talk when I made it clear that I was't the Tracy he was looking for, I wasn't joking, and that he had to quit texting me. After 4 long years of this, I still ask myself to this day, WHO WAS THIS GIRL AND WHY DID EVERYBODY BOTHER HER?
Just recently, I got several texts from (apparently) Capitol One claiming that I owed loans (not true).
Why can't the scams stop?!!
My point is, if you've been through this, or you're going through it now, my best advice for you is not even to say "Don't call/text/email me." That actually gives them the satisfaction that you got back to them. Fight the urge to tell them to "stop" and just ignore it all...and block them in every way possible.
