As you turn in your last final you realize you're finally free and you did it! You survived a year of college! You made it through all the ups and downs of the semester brought you right here to this moment. At first, you're ecstatic because you get to be home for three months with no responsibilities and spend time with your family and friends. However, then the harsh truth hits you- that some of the closest friends you've made life in completely different states than you.
College friends are a different breed. You have different friends for different reasons. Some are them are ones you call if you want to have a wild night out on the town. Then there are the friends you call if you need someone to motivated you to finish a ten-page term paper. There are the friends you will call to do face masks and eat cookie dough with while watching Ten Things I Hate About You or any other 2000 romantic comedy. The point is, you might feel closer to these college friends within the one year of knowing them compared to the friends you went to school with for all four years of high school. Friends in college see your best moments, but they also see you at your worst. However, it's well known that college can be pretty rough sometimes, so these friends never judge. College is crazy and hectic and when you have people who you see every day to help you get through it you can get attached real quick.
Although leaving the new friends you've made can seem pretty rough, it isn't as bad as you might think. Communication is key. If you keep in touch with them on a daily basis it can seem as if you never left each other. I mean I think it is pretty cool to have friends from all over Florida and the United States. Look on the bright side, you have four years with these people, make them the best four years of your life.
