Baylor is about to lose one of its most popular hot spots.
If Bear Nutrition isn't saved, it's gone... for good.
“At the end of the semester, we’re closing,” Diana Lindsey announced as I sat in the corner booth of a little place many Baylor students like to call home, or maybe just one of the hottest spots near campus.
Bear Nutrition, since 2012, has been offering plans for a healthy lifestyle, awesome shakes and not to mention a comfortable environment for students, but due to a pending relocation of its owners, will be closing at the end of this semester. Cue minor panic attack. Where are we supposed to get our daily dose of healthy when feeling sluggish and like we need a pick-me-up? Why are we losing such an important part of our lives? This news came as a shock to many students, including myself, as Waco will be losing an iconic piece of Baylor student life.
There has to be a way to save Bear Nutrition, there just does. Since we can’t really stop the owners’ moving, or move with them for that matter, the solution basically comes down to finding someone else to take over and keep Bear alive. “We are looking, still, for someone to possibly be able to run this and we’ve got a couple of people that are toying with it,” Diana stated as she continued the news that was so shocking to my ears. Okay, so maybe “…there’s like a small percentage chance that it will get to keep going…” but that doesn’t secure the deal. Bear Nutrition needs someone, stat.
So here is my shout-out to you, Baylor; who is it going to be? Someone has to be willing to do what it takes to save this amazing place. Business entrepreneurship majors, this little family-owned business could make your dreams of owning and operating something come true. Nutrition majors, need I say more? After all, it’s in the name. Doctors, lawyers, investors, consumers, somebody (anybody) just save Bear!
Ideally, we would like to see this haven stay open and continue running not only for the benefits of the owners, but for the students. Ideally, someone will come in and sweep Bear Nutrition off its feet for the benefit of its customers. Ideally, we get to see our favorite lunch spot stay in business and continue to host the hub of Baylor students. Ideally, we save Bear Nutrition.
