I am definitely an ice cream gal myself, as opposed to cake or pastries, but these six places are sure to satisfy your sweet cravings and always be stuck in the back of your mind.

1. Finley's

Oddly enough, Finley's Grill and Steakhouse in Lansing has one of my FAVORITE desserts on their menu. Although it may not be a common dessert hotspot like the rest on this list, it is definitely a must try. My go to is their Chocolate Volcano Sundae. A giant cocktail glass filled to the brim with chocolate cake, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, caramel sauce, hot fudge, area chunks, and whipped cream. It may take up all your calories for the day, but boy is it worth it.

2. Menchies

The increasingly popular frozen yogurt joint is a classic of mine. Anytime I catch a movie at NCG in Eastwood, I try to plan in a pit stop at Menchies. Their self-serve topping selections are pretty good (not as great as the later mentioned Sugar Berry IMO), but their froyo flavors and selections are really what draws me in time and time again. You really can't lose with a good froyo place.

3. Unicha

Unicha Tea & Ice Cream definitely is popular around Michigan State's campus and is certainly unique. This is the selection on this list that is definitely if you're feeling boujee. A bit more on the expensive side you're definitely paying for the experience at this hotspot. Watching your ice cream creations contents freeze on a frozen slab, and then be hand rolled into a beautiful presentation for you to devour, is definitely awesome to see and tastes good too. It's a win, win.

4. Sugar Berry

Another one of my favorite froyo places with multiple locations in the area, Sugar Berry is one I consider to be an OG. The topping selection is where Sugar Berry really wins over my heart here, and I can just never get over their giant balls of cookie dough. What feels like never ending selections of M&M's and candy bars, it certainly is a froyo fanatics happy place.

5. Culver's

Best. Custard. Ever. End of story. However, if you're looking for a recommendation, their concrete mixers are always a hit and never a miss, as you pick your favorite toppings to mix in with your favorite flavor of custard. Not to mention they have a "flavor of the day" every day, which keeps things exciting.

Happy eating! Cheers to ice cream and all things sweet!

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
