Although Sandra Bullock may not have taught us all how to sing, she has always played characters who inspire us all.

1. The importance of telling the truth.

In "While You Were Sleeping", Sandra Bullock plays a character who saves a man's life, get's involved in a crazy lie in which the entire family thinks she's his fiancée, and simultaneously falls in love with the man's brother all while the man remains in a coma. This 1995 classic reveals how important it is to finally tell the truth (which she does), and how rewarding it can be to see the results of that truth. Also, this is one of my favorite movies, and therefore it is first on the list.

2. The importance of taking care of your friends.

Even if it means ripping an explosive crown off of their head. The 2000 classic, "Miss Congeniality", follows an FBI agent who enters a beauty contest and surprisingly befriends a few of the other contestants. Sandra Bullock's character knows about the tricky schemes and the dangers that follow this beauty contest, and steps in the way of letting anything happen to the girls that she has grown to care so much about.

3. What it means to be selfless.

In another one of my favorites, "The Blind Side", Sandra Bullock's character invites a teenager to live with the family and slowly incorporates him into being a part of their family. I think you're lying if you say that you can watch this movie with dry eyes.

5. How to encourage others.

Again, in "The Blind Side", Sandra Bullock's character not only accepts a boy into their family but also makes sure that he understands football.

6. Why you should always keep an open mind.

In everyone's favorite rom-com, "The Proposal", Sandra Bullock's Character is a strong-willed, independent woman who does not need a man. However, when she's reminded that she's Canadian, she runs into some trouble and the only man who can save her is Ryan Reynolds' character. How? By a fake marriage. Thankfully, along the way of this fake marriage adventure, she figures out how she really feels about him, and the rest is history.

7. To never give up.

In her most recent film, "Ocean's 8", Bullock's character is a con on a mission. After spending approx. 5 years in jail, she's formulated the perfect plan for her next robbery. I'm not saying that we should all be inspired to be robbers, but she never gave up on her dreams and on what she wanted. And that's pretty inspirational.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
