An Ode To Salem Saberhagen: Some Appreciation For The Most Underrated Character In TV History

As a kid growing up in the nineties/ early 2000's, my favorite show was always Sabrina the Teenage Witch. I watched every episode after school in elementary school and I was obsessed with Salem, Sabrina's cat. When I was younger, I didn't truly appreciate his sarcasm and hilarious dry sense of humor, that is so similar to my own. Back then, I liked him simply because he was a cat and I though he was cute, but I thought he was honestly a sarcastic asshole.

Recently, I saw a picture of Salem online. I decided to watch some episodes of Sabrina and realized how amazing he is, how underrated he is, and how much we all relate to him.

Perhaps, not everyone relates to Simon's dry, sarcastic nature? Maybe I've just turned into a sarcastic asshole too? Who knows?...

Haha just kidding. Anyway, here is a compilation of Salem picture quotes that will not only give you ~nostalgia~ but, remind you of why Salem, the cat is the coolest, funniest, and relatable TV cat puppet of our time.

He is all about the self-love and inspires us all to do yo thang!

He knows what it feels like the have the Sunday Scaries.

OK, maybe he's being a little extreme, but I appreciate his determination and goal-making.

He's honest and great at communicating.

He knows how to relax. Is there an actual world record for this? I need to know how to compete for this. Sorry Salem, I do like to groove.

No explanation necessary.

He isn't afraid to let out a good cry. I respect a man that isn't afraid to show emotion.

He knew THE Mother Teresa. Need I say more? This cat has been places.

He was a Migo years before Migos were even Migos.

Okay I think that did it. Although we can relate to Simon, he is and will always be cooler than any of us ever. End of story.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
