A Sad Gurl, much like a Sad Boi, is someone who glorifies negative and moody aspects of life in order to appear cool. Sad Girls are #dark and #quirky and they love eating pizza. Pizza culture is huge for them. Sad Girls are living, breathing versions of Daria - the 90s cartoon every Sad Girl wishes they could be. Sad Girls love foreign black and white films because they just get her. Sad Girls also love Adidas and tattoo chokers and probably also goucho pants because nostalgia! A Sad Girl is sarcastic and witty and you've probably never heard her voice change octaves. Sad Girls loves listening to alt rock of the 90s and, most importantly, wears her feelings on sleeve. Sometimes literally. But it's chill, they're fine. They're probably in their room listening to one of these 12 Sad Gurls on their record or cassette player:

1. MØ, "Never Wanna Know"

Feelings and leather jackets = Sad Gurl

2. Nico, "These Days"

This German singer and former Warhol girl in the 60s died in the 80s in a car crash. She was also apparently a little racist and anti-semetic. So that's all really sad...

3. St. Vincent, "Severed Crossed Fingers"

Listen to to this and you might be a candidate for a Sofia Coppola film adaptation of your life.

4. Charli XCX, "Moments In Love"

Perfect for listening to while wearing a sheer crop top and fuzzy pink baseball cap.

5. Tove Lo, "Habits (Stay High)"

I know this is a Top 40 hit or something now, but Tove Lo is the e p i t o m e of a Sad Gurl: just look at her oversized denim jackets and quirky tats. Her lyrics are actually really dark and sad. Plus, the way she throws that thing of fries is SOoooo #relatable.

6. FKA Twigs, "Two Weeks"

FKA Twigs was definitely that Sad Gurl in high school or college who suddenly "changed" her name from Samatha to Ruby just cause she wanted to reinvent herself.

7. Cat Power, "Sea of Love"

8. Halsey, "Gasoline"

You could set someones house on fire while listening to this and she says "Motherfucker" and "Mary Jane" a lot, so she's real sad.

9. Marina and The Diamonds, "Happy"

I mean, it's just, like, not a happy song. So it's perfect.

10. Lana Del Ray, "Sad Girl"

This is really as a tru as it gets.

11. Alanis Morisette, "You Oughta Know"

Every Sad Gurl worships Alanis in some capacity. She's all angst and gives 0 fucks. Plus, every Sad Gurl I know thinks they're super Ironic and it's probably in part due to Alanis' song.

12. Joni Mitchell, "Both Sides Now"

The original Sad Girl.

I love Sad Girls and I think everyone secretly is a Sad Girl. That being said, being sad isn't cool...depression, moods, and angst aren't hip or quirky. Depression is more than Lana Del Ray sitting in a bathtub and should not be glorified. But these 12 Girls are just tryna be happy. And nothing is cooler than laying all your emotions on the line and being uninhibited by one's sadness.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

The transition into adulthood is never easy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
